"First Look" Sony MDR-1R in Silver headphones unboxing

Fast Forward, December, 2018, bought a used like new black set with both cables and the pouch on ebay, $125. Very comfortable. Using them mostly with a Toshiba A665 laptop. Little bit too much bass, corrected to my liking with equalizer in Toshiba control panel. Also bought a cheap Sqrmekoko Replacement Cable Cord on Amazon and there is less cord noise and rattling then the Sony OEM cords.

Thanks for making clear the extra features of the RBT-s. I had imagined that the basic, wired, model had the same audio features. The only things that are making me pause from purchasing are that I don't know the lifespan of the non-replaceable battery or how far you can move away from your music player before the bluetooth signal cuts out. I though I read 30 metres on the Sony website but a reviewer at Amazon said their signal only worked for 3ft ! That's a MAJOR difference.in use possibilities

I got one of Sony Mdr 1 RBT-s and i am absolutely satisfied. Dont forget RBT has S-Master Amplifier and Digital Sound Enhancement Engine (DSEE) features. Standard 1R model hasnt. So it isnt just about bluetooth and NFC technology.

th official manual what was in the box says that max. distance is 10m.Battery is 3,6 V DC lithiumion battery. Charging time 6 hour and u can listen 30 hours of music with it.

All these questions about how big the bass is compared to other headphones, just shows how little people actually know about audio in general. Music is so much more than just some loud booming noise. If you're looking for "boom", then you'll be disappointed with these headphones. If you actually appreciate good sounding music, then these headphones are great. They're also exceptionally comfortable.

get the mdr 1r since you can take them out ( not so big ear pad) plus its more portable.

I had the Dj standard V700s years back. I never used a headphone amp or anything with those and loved the way they sounded. Are these close to that?

Because, I was thinking of buying these or a Sennheiser and don't want to use them on an mp3 or my phone, get me? SO do you use your pc with an amp or a home-theatre reciever? I just bought these headphones and i really like them, they're not as bass heavy as some people might like but i really appreciate the mids. I would first try them out because i've heard that some people have trouble with their ears touching the inside of the earcups which is quite annoying. I don't have problems with this but just to be safe :) (ps i also own Sony MDR XB500 and AKG550, ofc I like these the best)

Why don't you like them ? I currently use Sony EX-500 earbuds, I assume these MDR-1s are MUCH better ? Is that so ? I have been strongly considering buying the Bluetooth verson for use with my Smartphone mainly. I thought other types of earphones might not work so well with a portable player of that nature.

Actually, these headphones have amazing bass, but it does not drown out the other features of the music.

hmm i dont know exactly but its better to use with wire when u can. I think it has good technology but Bluetooth will always be worse (in quality, i think) .In bed or in somewhere else is good to use wireless technology when u dont want to break,damage the wire.I use it with 3G ipod touch and it is in my pocket the signal is good. You can switch off the blue. function. The battery ll be not used when u dont need it. I hope Sony put to headphone good quality battery.

I wish I could get the Z1000, but they cost about 450 USD in Japan while the MDR-1R only cost around 170. Would you say that the MDR-1R are worth the price? Im wondering especially how they compare to favorites like the ATH-M50 and DT770 Pro since they are in the same price range and are all close back headphones.

I'll answer this in my point of view. I like the Sony's best for 2 reasons. I like the overall design/portability factor better + The sony's have a better bass respons and just better bass in my perspective. So I would go with the Sony's.(The AKG may have better mids) But it would be best if you could try both ofc. (I also listen to every kind of music, mainly Alt. Rock, but these are also great for D&B and Rap.)

Hi hifiguy, In your opinion, are these the best headphones for $300? I'm into mids, vocals, and OST's for some reference. I own the MDR-V6 since 2008 and it's getting noticeably weak so it's time for an upgrade. Those were my favorite headphones and honestly sound better than my Beats Pros. If not the best, can you at least tell me if they're better/worse than Ultrasone PRO 780, 900? They're the next ones I'm going for. Thanks

You're talking without experience or you've heard them? They're excellent in ears for the money. Logitech's headphones in company with UE are all excellent, some of the best you can get for money.

Hi i tried those at store, because i want some nice headphones for outside. And i realy didnt like them... Sounds like you are far away from speakers. Guitras was not sharp and drums not aggressive (i like bass oriented music but i didn't like bass on those it drowns music i think... Which headphones would you recommend me?
