The audiophile program Amarra integrates with iTunes, so it would be a logical music player/library for a Mac user. Mike did mention Amarra in a previous video, so my best bet would be that he uses it. It's a commonly used program amongst Head-Fi users who own a Mac.

So I am really trying to shop around for the best Ear Cans!!! I currently own Studio Beats, but have tried to replace them with "better sound quality" headphones. I tried the Sennheiser momentums and the V-moda crossfade M-100. I think that I am just fixated on the fact that they don't have as much base as the Beats. Any suggestions?!?!

LOL, I will as soon as I have set it all up properly. I have a video from late October of last year, but a lot has been rearranged since then. Yeah, would be cool if you did a piece on AURALiC. They have a super high end new DAC too, AURALiC VEGA (€3,300(!)), which I'm curious about. I'm very happy with their ARK MX+ though, and it is much less (~$1,900).

You need to turn one of these walls into an headphone stand. Place a 4 inch round wood stick every square foot from wall to wall and floor to ceiling. It may just be enough for all your headphones. And it'll prevent them from getting scratches by stacking them on top of each others.

Its the opposite of filters. High quality audiophile components will be as transparent as possible. Hi-fi means high fidelity, as true as possible to the source. The point of hi-fi is not to add components that will change the sound to make it nicer, the point is to remove stuff that cheap equipments adds to music, and to have as little interference with the original signal, so that music sounds as good as it sounded live when it was recorded.

Your own headphones room, LOL! You're even sicker than me, Mike... My apartment is so small, and with all the equipment I guess we could call it a headphones apartment! :) Have you tried AURALiC TAURUS fully balanced headphone amp and/or AURALiC ARK MX+ dac? Just got the latter yesterday. I just uploaded a video about them. They look sweeter than sweet and sound as great as they look!

@HanDynastyNet12 жыл бұрын
according to the author... from the faq's Q: Does foobar2000 sound better than other players? A: No. Most of “sound quality differences” people “hear” are placebo effect (at least with real music), as actual differences in produced sound data are below their noise floor (1 or 2 last bits in 16bit samples). Foobar2000 has sound processing features such as software resampling or 24bit output on new high-end soundcards, but most of other mainstream players are capable of doing the same by now.
@rbrtphn12 жыл бұрын
Just a suggestion, I think you should test the headphones without all the amps and stuff. Just use your phone, ipod, or mp3 to test the headphones out cause most of us don't have any of those things so it would probably be more useful to tell us which headphones sound good with just using the phone, ipod, or mp3.

Understood but I think most people that stream music all day find the sound more than adequate from.most sources like Pandora from a smart TV or smartphone with a dock. I guess I will call that equipment various forms of filters but again only an audiophile notices the extreme high mid and lows and adjusts with this filter equipment the average person may enjoy just enjoy the music

I think his Vmodas, Beats, and Sony headphones are target for phone, ipod, or mp3 player users. I think his videos should have categories separating the audiophile headphones and the average headphone user headphones. It make no sense to tell people the headphone sounds horrible on a your phone, ipod or mp3 and you need to buy like a $1000 headphone amp to power the headphone. Most of us are just everyday people just want to know which headphone works best with our portable players.
