High Bun W/ Bang on Severe Alopecia Tutorial

As someone who has alopecia, it is nice to see a possible hairstyle that I could try. It is easy for those that don't have alopecia to tell someone with the condition what to do or not to do with their hair. Sometimes a person gets tired of wearing wigs and wants to try something new. Thank you for treating your client with compassion and also, being non-judgemental as well.

I have to say this. I see some commenting about the clients natural texture not matching & that's fine. However, she has extreme hair loss & I doubt wants to put chemicsls on it (Ms. Carla mentioned a silk press as an alternative. This woman is gifted!). Someone called the clients hair nappy. With the amount of loss she's suffered, I'm sure she's glad to have any hair & prob. glad its thick. Any tine a womans crown is lost it can take a toll on her self esteem. Miss Carla, God Bless you for not only making women look & feel beautiful, but for being thoughtful, sensitive & respectful to them.

I have a suggestion if the clients prefer their face not to be shown maybe you can use a eye mask when we have bags under our eyes that one that way it will give them that comfort they need. You make us women feel beautiful and give us that confident that we have lost.👏🏽💕🥰

Any stylist with these mad skills and who has mastered their craft like Mz. Carla would not hesitate to slay the back of this client's hair. It is painfully obvious the client requested not to have any heat, or chemicals applied to her natural hair, so all the derogatory comments about straightening the nape and back of her hair are just foolish! You did your thang Mzzz. Carla. You went into surgery, stopped the pain, sewed up the wound and that sista is trying to live her best life💞

Woefully, the client's insistence, " no-heat, no-chemicals" withheld the ideal comprehensive "slayage" we know Ms. Carla delivers. I was wincing too, cuz it be HOT like fish grease in Florida and ALL that Carla magic is gonna shrink the second she hits outside. Alopecia can come from many things. I am starting to experience some hair loss around my temples due to wearing locs for 10 years..all the pulling and styles and retwisting caused my hair to break off at the temples. I liked this look overall. I didn’t know what to expect at the beginning but you did a phenomenal job as usual!

It is truly amazing what you can do with hair. Afro hair is so versatile, I just always marvel at the beautiful and intricate hairstyles black people have. That kind of hair art is not possible with european hair like mine (how dull! haha). I think people in Japan (they also have thick and strong hair) can also do a lot with their hair, but the most intricate hairstyles I've only seen on black people. Truly awesome!

You are an amazing stylist and you do miraculous work. I think I would have asked the client though if I could have pressed her hair and then backed it up with a low heat flat iron which would have made the texture of her hair match the weave hair better and not become a distraction to the beautiful work you had done. I would have then used a freeze type hair spray to keep the hair in place. My experience with gel in the past on natural hair is that the gel would cause the natural texture to return slightly. This is amazing 👏🏾 I suffer from scarring alopecia from an autoimmune disease and I'm so tired of wearing wigs and or scarves to cover it. I also live in the desert and yea it gets hot! Currently trying to find tips to help me conceal my alopecia and I stumbled on your video and I'm just in awe. I havent worn a ponytail in years also. Because it didn't seem possible. Just a word to young alopecia sufferers. If you’ve lost smallish circles of hair they’ll probably grow back after a few months without any treatment. For a quick, easy solution, if you’ve got bald spots you can just darken the skin there with eyebrow pencil, for example. I admire this hairdresser for doing such an amazing job with what seems a more severe case of alopecia.

Sis you making dreams come true-people who don't have alopecia may not get it fully but I have alopecia (not to this extent). Absoutely amazing! I really enjoy watching an expert stylist create these amazing "Do's" on women of color. It's a shame... I'm blessed with long, healthy, straight hair and I cant do anything with it but a pony and a bun. No body and wont hold a curl!
