As a lifetime fan, I've always found Radiohead to be absolute masters on the art of conveying vulnerability to a song. High and Dry was a particularly high point of vulnerability in their early works, and this version raises the stakes even further. I always felt it like a hug: "we know you're fragile, we understand how it feels, we're here for you" I love Radiohead.

This video is not about Radiohead. It's about what real musicians can do to mediocre pop songs. This is so much better it's almost embarassing. Would liked to have heard your opinion on this video and the interpretation... This is my opinion of course.

This is the disease of contemporary videographers. First they got sliders and now it's powered gimbals; nobody just lets the shot speak for itself anymore, they have to move the camera around because they are afraid that the audience will get bored if the camera stays still for 5 seconds.

Wonderfully done. Covering Thom Yorke is no easy endeavour, for sure, and Carrie did an excellent and heartfelt cover. The camera movement was a little odd, until I realized it was in homage to the original video. It was totally the right thing to do. And, I loved the strings. Definitely fleshed it out nicely. Beautiful piece, Scott.

really! I didn't find anything wrong with her choice of singing style. I think they are used to the overly polished, overly mixed auto tune crap or people singing live with playback that passes for performance art now days. Not everything has to be a machine cut diamond to be a beautiful interpretation. Music is supposed to conjure emotion, painting a picture through the medium of sound. It isn't some sterile sporting event where everyone is just flexing their muscles for fastidious line judges.

@WilliamAudette
@WilliamAudette 5 жыл бұрын
Agreed, fun experimentation with the camera and angles. For my own personal preference though, perhaps a little less bobbing and weaving within the close up frames. I was getting distracted by wondering if the camera person had to use the rest room or was experiencing a muse-gasim. Musegasim, that moment when you know your or someone else is feeling it, seeking to find a way into it, or thoroughly absorbed within it. This doesn't necessary mean that they are swaying to any one particular rhythm within the music and if on that journey, it may or may not necessary be the path you were on. All around though, well done. I look forward to all of the content on your channel. =)

I like the song, but the mobile camera was a bit too mobile for me. I mean, I get the moving around the room, but the not-quite-still bits when focused on the singer were almost vertigo-inducing. And being focused when focusing on her would have been nice, too.

I think the camera bottomed out in the highlights on her face when upclose, lights were too intense for the camera to cope. That loss of detail looks almost like drifting focus but is not on the entire picture.

Great cover, but definitely not a fan of the changing camera angles. PMJ has a special quality about the one take, single position camera. It is almost as if a window into the room on any given take. These camera angles make everything feel a lot more constructed, for me, and it loses that spontaneous quality.
