Second: Postmodern Jukebox. HUGE props to Scott Bradlee who had the vision and talent to put together this project and turn it into the astonishing musical collective it is today. April Baldwin music is at its best when an artist makes what they want to. For some what they want to make is popular at the time, for others its not, but they both make the best music they can produce. Look at modern metal or jazz music, its not popular like rap or pop music, yet its still just as well written and preformed as any of the great popular songs.

@@lorettapierce8430 I listened to Crum's versions. Good voice but oh , Haley does SO much with the song. Incredibly creative (although a huge thumbs up to Scott Bradlee and PMJ) but she is also rings the emotional changes so powerfully. Crum's version to large extent follows Radiohead's. It seems to be about despair and apathy. When he does actually let rip he shows he has a great voice and briefly ignites some passion. Haley goes rather from quiet yearning rather than despair, and ramps it up to passion outbursts about how she sees herself, with so many vocal colours and changes of tone to her voice. Astaggering virtuisi performance by her.

Haley used almost every tool she has to interpret this song. I've continued to come back to listen since it was posted. I've noticed people commenting about what she's done, but it sounds like maybe they don't know her background. She's really an accomplished Jazz vocalist and competes with the best in that genre. I was amazed when I watched her cover of Moanin on the American Idol show. Since she's sung with Jazz bands, she's learned to use her voice as an instrument (think trumpet?). Her impromptu challenge of Irvin Mayfeild at the end of Bless the Child is proof of how accomplished she is at this, causing him to give her the win. This explains the "scatting" she throws in 3:10. She's also sung with her parents "oldies" cover band since she was a young girl. The riff she throws in at 3:35 comes from a Motown song I heard back in the mid 60's. Her range is fantastic, singing higher than Irvin Mayfield's trumpet in the challenge I mentioned while still having a wonderful lower register. You have to be amazed with this. 2022: I forgot to mention that she sang with her high school jazz band, touring Europe with them and became their first ever "permanent" vocalist for their performances. (Wiki)

There are two - both of them are arranged in a way that you didn't realize it until after it has already happened. Something isn't right .. "I don't belong here" but you're already there

I'll admit, when I saw the title I thought, "they're using the term postmodern wrong like everyone else." It was arrogance, I was wrong, this is both brilliant and postmodern. It seems like this song would be ruined by transcending it's alt rock roots, but this is such an amazing cover. I honestly think this is more unique and creative than the original, even though it's a cover. Fucking amazing!

+Gina Szanboti They didn't use the word "postmodern" to describe the way the song would be preformed. Its "Postmodern Juke Box" that's the name of the band she is currently in right now. Its a band that only does covers of pop and rock songs in a very 40's, 50's, 60's, Doo Wop, Swing and many other old fashion styles. I saw them in concert last month and they are AMAZING!!! That band has many members, over 30 and many of them are American Idol contestants from the top 5 from previous years. You should look them up. But am sure you might know all this by now.
