Clearly she doesn't respect them much considering how quick she was to detail their unfaithfulness to Thyme, someone who she isn't even close with and based on what she says about them they don't exactly sound like they were the best parents/role models either. It really makes me wonder if Amaryllis antagonistic behavior was partially the result of poor/non-existent parenting. I'm also quite curious about how she and Snapdragon initially became friends, especially since Snapdragon is pretty much an ideal target for bullying. I wonder if they bonded over a shared loneliness when they were younger since despite her having a lot of "mean girl" traits Amaryllis doesn't actually appear to be very popular and Snapdragon seems to be her only close friend. I didn't hate High Guardian Spice, but I also can't deny that Axe Gremlin Amaryllis was the main reason why I wanted to keep watching it. Hell, she's the main reason why I'd actually like for their to be a second season.

Amaryllis and Snapdragons friendship is way better than Sage and Rosemary’s. Amaryllis shows lots of care for him and consoles him when he feels down and they’re able to have fun together without any complaints, but on the other hand during that costume party episode sage got all butthurt with rosemary all cause rosemary didn’t want to do what sage wanted and sage basically threw a tantrum over it The writers honestly tried so hard to make sage and rosemary look like the better friends but instead they just made their friendship so damn toxic And they tried too hard to paint Amaryllis as the bad person but shes better than the protagonists

(Preface: I do not have Crunchy Roll and have not otherwise found the show online, so my knowledge comes from reviews) The problem is that this is way too much of a character-driven show, so there really isn't much inherent conflict in the show beyond basic magic school tropes. The creators must have realized this, and, instead of trying to actual incorporate a greater plot earlier, they made the main characters act abnormally unpleasant at certain points to cause conflict. The main characters are often annoying, but they can become incredibly nasty just to cause some drama.

Honestly both Sage and Rosemary sucked to each other. Sage getting mad at Rosemary is somewhat justified given that Rosemary was being an asshole and pretending she didn't see Sage signing them up for Pumpkin craving. They both suck since her and Sage should have talked over the options and then come to a decision so it is on Sage for not trying to initiate conversation. Still they both did this to each other.

Additionally she has a more interesting redemption arc for a bully character. Like a lot of billy characters arc as of recent sorta boil down to having neglectful parents, but amaryllis has stated she could care less about them. But while she is a bully she has been shown to care about her friends, with her slowly becoming friendly with the main cast, and during the finale she showed great leadership with the rest of the class. It honestly would have been an interesting redemption arc because it would have been just through her given opportunities to shine and help

Litteraly, Snapdragon and Amarylis have so much personality to them that the actuall main characters! (It's just my opinion =P ) I just felt like that the main charas has as much personality as a pebble, Ama and SD also have much more story to them! (Just my opinion once more) I feel like HGS just doesn't feel like it has a plot tbh, but when we're with those two I see alot more potential! So yeah they should have been the stars of the show, and it would have been hella fun to watch SD figuring out who he is really supposed to be, with the help of Ama ofc, I'd much rather follow him through the story than the actuall cast, but once again all of this has been my opinion, I feel like the show could make trans audiences less alone, like those w/ homophobic family's, those who are in a dark place and don't feel accepted... Amarillis and Snapdragon would be much better protagonists than the original 4 girls and I will tell you why: Because they're not perfect. The 4 main girls have no faults, or their faults are so superficial that they could be fixed simply by talking. On the other hand, Amarillis comes from a rich, recognized and respected family, the pressure she must feel to be perfect just by being part of that family must be immense... And Snapdragon is a different boy from an traditional family that not only does not understand him, but sometimes it seems that the father and the brothers despises the poor boy... they are characters with a lot of space to grow mentally and emotionally... can you imagine how satisfying it would be to see them both overcoming their traumas and becoming heroes at the end of a series? just please cast another VA for Snapdragon, that "crying" ( 5:06 ) was f***ing terrible xD

I think I've worked out why Amaryllis is the only decent character out of the main group: screen presence. She's the star of every scene she's in. Whenever she's on the screen, you pay attention to what she's doing. All the other girls (and Snapdragon) feel way more restrained. None of them really have the same scene presence as she does. Even when there's a scene that's focused on them, your attention wanders, and it becomes really easy to blank them out.

I don't know what the writers were thinking when they wrote that, but it comes across really weird and creepy - "this guy is too pathetic to be a man, clearly he should be a woman instead"
