Fire-fighters who did try to put fires out also faced having no water. The water had been turned off. An emergency proclamation declared 2 days prior to the event, journalists were banned from the area and much, much more. I've been following this seemingly suspicious event since it was first reported. I live in a country very familiar with huge bush fires and there is no way the peope couldn't be warned. TV, radio, people on the ground. From day one I've thought, things just don't add up with this fire. DW you have fabulous reporters. As tragic as this is it shouldn't surprise anyone. If your 60-year old home burns down in an expensive area like Maui (especially if it was paid off) then replacing it will be at the 2024 market value. No different then selling that same home and trying to relocate within the same area and wondering why your new house cost 10x as much.
