@@SonicMaster519 Again, YOMI hustle is only a platform fighter in some aspects (DI being a major example) but it is primarily based on more traditional fighting games along the lines of Street Fighter, Guilty Gear, King of Fighters, etc. These tend to be ridiculously fast paced requiring huge time investments to learn how to do the simplest combos. Smash is a party game with competitive elements.

@@G102Y5568 the game isn't played in real time, whenever one or both players can make a move time stops and they can select and aim their moves as they please until they lock them in, then the moves are played out as inputted. repeat until someone dies or time runs out, then you get a real time replay of the fight

it's a pretty common wiz v cowboy opening i feel. it's the one i do the most. jump is just a very safe option against cowboy and have fast fall means you can immediately punish if you need too.

What we call "reads" is ultimately guesswork most of the time. Educated guesswork, but guesswork none the less. On the bright side, it feels really cool when you get it right.

Footsies is when you carefully dance around safe and unsafe distances from your opponent so that you can try to be the first one to hit them and get your damage off without getting hit.

funnily enough it's actually quite the opposite, he's very fun to play against as your typical anti projectile options don't interfere with your own gameplan, it's very engaging and exciting to dodge and weave 100 different projectiles as you close the gap

Depends on the user, most of the wizard mains just spam ranged attacks and barely get close enough for you to attack them. However, there are other types of wizard players, those who actually utilize melee skills and mostly use ranged ones in order to extend their combos, not as main attacks. those r pretty sick

the replays make handling the loss so much easier than experiencing it in real time. 30 seconds to a full minute will go by where you are just sitting there going "ok im being comboed... will DI get me out of it next turn?.... no.... can I burst yet?... no... how about now?... no.... NOw? ok i will burst now i guess...... he blocked the burst ok.... so im ready in 14 frames?... no? another 26 frames?... no?.. okay so im ready in 59 frames... I see.. well im gonna leave and go make a sandwhich while the Hold-Timer ticks to 0. 4x DI will do SOMETHING now right? oh im on zero HP and the guy is telling me GG like that was somehow exciting."

Meta is okay. Skill expression could be better and hopefully will get better over time as right now you can lose just by getting unlucky twice

@@eluxdrio i kind of felt the same way. i kind of wish there were more clear advantage states and disadvantage states. I kind of had the feeling that the game would be too guessy to have consistently winning players but when i saw consistent tournament results it made me hopeful. I think free cancels and the non chess timer help alot for skill expression. Still gotta get in tournaments but i'm not grinding yomi hustle like i used too

I not played an online game yet, I've just done solo games to make cool videos. I once managed to do 89 combo with a wizard, though I didn't make the other player choose the direction. But still, was pretty good. I'm just afraid of getting destroyed if I go online

You definitely won’t if you pick the right lobbies. Since the game is gaining traction, there are a lot of people who are new in online mode right now. Everyone who is brand new is saying they’re brand new. It may not seem like it when you start playing them, but that’s just the flashiness of the game tricking you. All in all, the online scene for this game is really welcoming compared to other fighting games at time of writing this. Give it a shot if you wanna!

this is hilarious because anyone who's watched a lot of FG TASes on TASvideos or Melee/Brawl TASes on YT would probably have seen this coming. The main thing in FG/Smash TASes is the TASer makes one of the characters perform an erroneous move and then the other capitalizes off of it until they make a mistake and it goes back and forth. YOMI is essentially casual handmade TAS but the concept of first move loses will still apply regardless. Im sure the meta/players/dev will figure out something (see negative bonus or similar) but for now neutral is gonna be a turtle fest.

@@offandsphere6788 I'm not sure if they mean the same thing, but a number of Arc System Works fighting games have a mechanic called "Negative Penalty" where if you are seen as too defensive, you'll start taking 150% damage until you are more close-ranged and offensive.
