Honestly the more I train the more I realize that I am not training to learn something new but to unlearn the bad habits I have learned. I feel like the body already knows how to do all of these things I just have to get out of my own way and that is the hardest part

That's so true. Vowel modification. There's a natural point where I simply CAN'T continue to differentiate your vowels that clearly as the pitch changes. Because, for myself, it's a lot to do with second formant work and the shapes I can't make my vocal tract into if I want to 'make' the pitches (:

Wow, my whole life trying to sing high notes like Bruno Mars. Thanks to you, I just realize my singing voice sounds naturally deep. I should try singing Frank Sinatra from now on.

I will never say you do not challenge me. Au contraire! In the big voices I like, the combination of fundamental and overtones makes each voice sound like it's singing chords instead of single melody notes. And, of course, they are. Another excellent lesson.

Thank you for this, Victoria. I don't know why, but I can get my vibrato right on the lower notes, but the high notes have almost no vibrato or color. In addition, I'm so scared of singing poorly, and I'm terrified of the top notes, so when I go up there, I tend to close the space in the throat. I think it's also because I'm afraid of singing loudly. One teacher told me that I'm more afraid of success than failure, so I'm afraid of what I can do and cut the sound dead. No idea if that's true or not, but I'm REALLY battling to progress and sing freely.

Hello! As stated on my website, my private studio is full and I am not adding to the wait list. Your other options are: 1. participating in my group classes for members of my audio exercise training program www.healthyvocaltechnique.com/group-classes/ (need to become a VVVEP member first (www.healthyvocaltechnique.com/order-victorias-victorious-vocal-exercise-program/) 2. submitting a video for evaluation: www.healthyvocaltechnique.com/product/video-review-of-your-singing/ 3. Of course, you should be subscribed to my KZbin channel where I post valuable info seldom found online and certainly not for free! kzbin.info Make sure that you are on my mailing list to be informed of future opportunities. This is a fantastic exercise, thank you. I am using a pitch monitor to see how I go and find I am much more accurate going down the scale than going up. I am generally slightly sharp going up but coming back down are nearly spot on. Is this due to too much pressure when I'm starting the scale going up? Thanks.
@Victoria-Victorious4 ай бұрын
Descending is easier for most people. If you are going sharp as you ascend, yes, you are probably adding too much pressure and over-reaching. Keep up the good practice with the pitch monitor!
@SevennahAlyse4 ай бұрын
@@Victoria-Victorious Thank you so much for your reply. I did quite a few of these exercises using my keyboard and the pitch monitor and I am unfortunately always often naturally sharp. I'm trying different mouth positions and breathing positions trying to figure out why this is happening. ? What is over-reaching?

Just bought your amazing online program, such valuable information. I have just one question. I have chosen 4 exercises from the warmup routine and I repeat each round twice so like 6-7 minutes in total per exercise. Is it better to choose more exercises but less rounds of each? So that way I have more time over to do more exercises to make it more complete?
@Victoria-Victorious4 ай бұрын
I like that idea of focusing on the 4 exercises! Why not try that for 1-2 weeks and then choose other exercises or mix & match? Just make sure that you follow my exercise formula in warming up (descending, ascending, sustained).

How can I have easy high notes when I can’t open my mouth anymore without screwing the sound cause it’s too high? I’m a mezzo but can sing really high soprano and need to fix the soprano part. Like above an A5 I can’t open my mouth more or the sound screws up
@Victoria-Victorious4 ай бұрын
I cannot tell without seeing and hearing you. Higher than A5 is pretty high for a mezzo! You might be over-opening too. See my playlist on High Notes.
@kralvltavin91734 ай бұрын
Remember that the mouth/ jaw works like a seesaw. Opening the mouth (front) will constrict the space in the back. So when you get to the point where your mouth is widest for the highest note, you need to start closing the mouth (front) and the back will open.
@utilitydisk4 ай бұрын
the main thing I’m struggling with is keeping the excessive air below the vocal folds which causes my voice to be airy, heavy and not sustainable… Using appoggio helps a lot but it feels to me that I also need some confidence in my closure but then it’s scary to overdo these pressures

I'm surprised by how much is there is to learn in singing, every week something new. I thought it was something you'd have to strain to do as a man for example.

I mean I know this in my mind, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how one can lift their larynx or add space to their throat. I've looked through. Maybe I just haven't found the video yet where it is explained. I'm a female, but very contralto and flat. I can go higher to an extent by belting (I assume,) but I just fly out of tune. I seem to do better in half step down and lower tunings, but then I don't like my sound. I mainly play guitar and just wanted to sing a little with it. I'm not trying to be the best singer in the world, but I'd like it to at least not be cringey

Yes, that's a very good exercise. I'm not doing maybe this specific one but I do exercises where I linger on those notes which tend to sound flat . I can confirm this works good if practiced daily
