I saw he had tentacles and his visor hid his face so when we met an octopus character trying to get to the boss who was also acting super nice, I also assumed that he was actually the boss although I had tried to shoot him much earlier with Kenny without the changing kids names and got the normal dialogue about not trying to shoot friendly NPCs so just assumed we weren’t supposed to figure it out. Didn’t have gus at the time so maybe that’s what unlocks being able to shoot him.

My favorite thing about this is that the reason Gus figured out Dr. Joopy was lying was because he genuinely cared about him and wanted him to be reunited with his kids, because of this, he noticed that they had different names each time and discovered the truth.
