Higher mileage diesel truck is better choice because the last owner pretty much replaced all the issues it having and replaced it with better parts and have it bulletproof the reason you see guys with 400k miles on their engine and still going strong!

Bought 120k lbz from 07 Arizona truck, so clean it’s insane, definitely feels good having a truck that no one has beat on and was treated like shit, will last longer than any high milage truck that 6 different 17 years old have owned in the past 2 years
@Povertycab Жыл бұрын
i bought a 04 lb7 with just under 300k and in inside is insanely clean besides some headliner sag, as far as i can tell its a 1 owner truck before me. but i only paid 8500 vs the 35k people are asking.. i can build a motor for less than 20k so really mileage doesnt matter in that sense
@LumenChaser Жыл бұрын
@@Povertycab hell yes dude as long as the frame and body aren’t rusted to oblivion everything else is repairable, great score my headliner sags right in the front behind the sun visor on passenger side I gotta fix it before it gets worse haha
@Povertycab Жыл бұрын
@@LumenChaser yea that’s the exact spot mine is sagging, I planned on doing a starlight anyways so I didn’t mind it, but sadly the rockers and can corners are getting bad. From it being a north truck that came to the south, but I priced it and it’s around 2k to fix so not bad really. Frame is good just has some surface rust

Yup! Just bought an 06 LBZ w 260k. You have to know what to look past if your a painter like myself. Mine was bone stock w a 5 position tuner. And a phantom coolant leak. Tackled the egr delete which turned into manifold and up pipe - downpipe change. Found coolant leak behind down pipe. Now it runs like a new truck motor and trans wise. Couldn’t be happier. About to drive it from Ma to Florida.

Should I buy a 300k miles lb7 the onwer said it was “never tuned” also got the injectors replaced. The truck is sitting on 24x12 and the frame n body is solid so is the “motor & drivetrain”

Go with the daily driving high mileage I Bought a 89k stock 1 owner lbz 2 years ago been nothing but problems. Biggest was constant limp mode for low fuel pressure all the seals and lines in the fuel system had holes were kinked or wouldn’t seal was sucking in air replaced eveything from the tank to the cp3 and did a hi flow cp3 kit with a ported fitting and bigger lines deleting the stock shit small lines. Also cause the truck sat all the seals dry rotted ended up ripping the whole thing apart after both upper valve covers started pouring oil so I deleted it new ppe up pipes ppe down pipe to 5” straight with a wherli custom fab hi flow kit on motor now she’s in a great spot. After buying the truck for 20k and dumping close to 15k in parts should of got a 6.7
@Povertycab Жыл бұрын
the main reason id say go with a high mile truck is purely the cost of the low mile trucks. you can get a decent high mile lbz/lb7 for 7500-10k or you could get a 100k mile lbz/lb7 for 30kish. you can fix alot of issues with 20k. dont like the clapped out seats? $750 for all new cleans seats and interior. are those injectors clapped? go ahead and get those nice and new 40 overs and installed for 5k? just my take on buying clean vs clapped trucks

My 400k mile shitbox needed work and still needs work, but I paid 2.6k for it and I know a guy who’s got more motors on hand haha. Just wish she would simmer down on the leaking.

Take a higher mileage good running Southern US truck over a lower mileage piece from anywhere else save for maybe the desert Southwest. Boight an old farm truck for cheap(!) But they had maintained and replaced a lot of stuff and runs great even with almost 400,000 miles now. Just broken in. Did i mention it was cheap?! Bought it just before the diesel craze took off and no one wanted to hang onto these. Back in '17-'18 no one was going diesel crazy yet.

Buying a molested truck is like having a girlfriend who was abused, there fun in the beginning because they can do all the stuff your typical GF cant but over time they need all the love and attention you dont have to offer to keep them going, buying a clean, non clapped out truck is worth every penny in the long run.
