Silicones are GREAT for high porosity hair!! Don’t get rid of them, it makes managing dry frizzy hair more difficult. Use both rinse out and leave in conditioners with silicones!!

Silicones are fine if you use high quality, water soluble ones. The cheap ones will just suffocate your hair after a while and cause breakage and dryness. In either case, silicones should not be part of a high porosity hair routine if any sort of bond builders are used. Bond builders cannot penetrate through silicone.

@@HighPorosityCentral hair doesn’t suffocate because hair is dead. Silicones form a protective layer over hair strands that help seal the cuticle and protect hair strands from breakage. I’ve heard several trichologists and cosmetic chemists say that. So maybe use silicone products after your bond building treatments. Also, Olaplex shampoo has silicone in it.

@@GuessJess olaplex is silicone free and hair cuticles can absolutely suffer from build-up, which I describe figuratively as “suffocation” because no product can penetrate silicone build-up, causing your hair to dry out underneath. But you do you. I won’t use silicones and also won’t recommend them to my viewers.

@@HighPorosityCentral Olaplex shampoo is not silicone free, the ingredients list contains dimethicone and amodimethicone which are silicones. Many products use those ingredients because they smooth the hair shaft and don’t cause buildup. I’ve heard several trichologists and cosmetic chemists address the myth of silicone buildup and damage in their videos. You should do some more research before you decide to not recommend ingredients to your followers that are actually beneficial to high porosity hair. If you’re concerned about bond builders not penetrating through silicones, then you should use a silicone free shampoo. But I suspect you might be wrong about that theory since Olaplex itself has silicones in its formulation.

@@GuessJess olaplex no 6&7 contain water soluble silicones (I don’t use or recommend either product). The rest are silicone free according to their website. But anyway, use what works best for you.

So I’m from Germany but all the products I talk about can be bought directly off Amazon US as well, except the heat protectant gel. Thank you for supporting ❤️

The Secret to Moisturising High Porosity Hair: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jIC5l5uNhpt4bsksi=7Sq992WkN-hiPpex I’d like to share this video because it explains quite effectively how only the thicker moisturising products can hydrate effectively high porosity air. Have you ever tried thick masks and/or leave-in conditioners? In the last case there are at least two by Redken which seems to work very well. They have the consistency of a cream and also work as heat protection: Redken Acidic Perfecting Bonding Concentrate Leave-In; Redken All Soft moisture restore.

It really depends on the person I think. I will make a video on this but my hair is very much like my skin. Dry but sensitive to heavy oils and butters. The way I can’t use heavy products on my skin because they beak me out, I can’t use heavy products on my hair because they suffocate my strands.

Please do you try curlsmith bond curl rehab salve ?

I’ve never tried it. It seems to be specifically made to repair damaged curls tho, so I don’t think I’d be able to test it thoroughly on my permanently straightened hair.

Hello! I didn’t well understand what you do after Olaplex 3. Since this is a product designed to be shampooed out. But you said you do a shampoo before using a scrub product. So after Olaplex 3 do you shampoo again using a shampoo like the Olaplex shampoo? And after that do you use the Pantene conditioner?

So I do it like that: I use my hair scrub to get everything off, use olaplex No 3, leave it on for 10-20 min and then wash it out with water. I do not shampoo it out tho. Never have.

@@HighPorosityCentral Interesting! The opposite of official instructions. Even the Acidic bonding by Redken is meant to be shampooed out. While K18 and Living proof are leave-in. But evidently, just rinsing out works for you. Another thing that for me it has become clear is that one has to find his/her right way to use them efficiently. This is something which deserves a deep reflection: not only products but even the specific and personal way of using them are two very important things. And it doesn’t always happen to find the more efficient way to use hair products. There are many variables as for example quantity, frequency of use, what you do before and what you do after, which other kind of products you use and their sequence, etc.

@@PierfrancoMinsenti no indeed. The olaplex conditioner No 5 is also not meant to be mixed with other moisturizing conditioners but for me it’s the only way to make it work. I will add No. 5 and then layer a moisturizing conditioner on top. But also: if it works for you when you shampoo No 3 out, then do it.
