At some crossings on the CSX a track inspector can punch a 4 digit code on the radio and trip the crossing gates. Could be what happened here. When setting a high rail vehicle on, we set the rear wheels and then the front. You gotta make certain you are not up on the flanges and the gear is all the way down. You have to get down and look close. Which he really did not do either time. Sometimes I have to make adjustments 3 or 4 times to get it lined up correctly. Other times I get it the first time.

He has to be aware of anybody near the tracks since he is an employee of the railroad, and part of their job is to warn anyone that is too close to the tracks or on the tracks to back away for their safety but Also because people that go beyond the crossing limits would be trespassing, but Brian knows that.

He wouldnt have done this if he actually inspected the wheel when he set on to make sure it wasnt riding the rail, you can clearly see it riding the wheel flange on the railhead. And looking back, I didn’t know high rollers had horns. A little later after that I found a piece of coal by the track. And of course being little I thought it was probably from a steam train. The steel wheels have no power, they are used to guide and keep the truck on the tracks. The truck tires provide the movement as they sit on top of the rails.
