I might also use a “high ready” in a mass shooting situation when there is not a level above me. Many videos I have seen, when a shooting occurs people drop to the floor to avoid gunfire and others run….high ready would helpful until you get a clear shot on the threat in order to minimize friendly fire. Depending on the circumstances, I might stay at the ready in that circumstance until the threat is neutralized. Readiness is situational and high or low….neither works 100% of the time.

Just don’t point your gun at friendlies if you can help it. However that happens is dependent on your surroundings.
