Grandma deserves the money the whole $15 million because she worked hard to make the money to buy the houses that turned into a fortune. After that, the children, then grandchildren. If the grandma only gets a portion, it should be $7.5 million. Half of the marital growth. She worked for it and dealt with unfair behavior from her husband. She paid dearly for that money.
@Pixie1001.3 ай бұрын
Yeah, it seems kinda messy. Like she really should've gotten half of his assets in the divorce - possibly more, since he was at fault. But I'm not really sure how marriage laws work over there, or what rights husbands vs. wives have. It seems weird that the Grand Dad couldn't get a divorce without the wife's concent for example. I guess another argument though is that if the Grandma wanted the money, she shouldn't have played stupid games trying to get the mistress deported. Like, she could've filed for divorce at any time to collect what she and the rest of the family were owed, and avoided this whole mess.

Not telling the authorities „Hey, this is my husband, his name is Lie“ is a telltale sign that he’s guilty. What reasonable innocent explanation can there be for hiding Lie’s identity? Also, it’s so sad, it seems like the grandma isn’t even sad over her family members death. Her letter has the undertone of „Well, he was born out of adulterous relationship, so who cares about his life, he was there just to hurt ME and steal MY money“. I agree that Lai shouldn't have been blamed for his (grand)father's adultery. He deserved a lot more than what the adults around him have treated him. I hope that he is at peace. 18 is too young to die. Life was just beginning for him. However, I can also understand why Grandma Lai isn't empathetic. She also has the trauma of getting cheated on; she was essentially driven out of her own home and replaced by a mistress; and the life/wealth she helped build was given to someone else without her approval. She definitely could have been nicer about Lai's death, but it's understandable why she still feels animosity towards Lai's mother as the woman who, with grandpa Lai, ruined her marriage. Yes, it was years later, but some trauma can still exist for that long.

Having enough money in a capitalist society is a blessing. Having too much is often more of a curse. It takes a strong person with a strong support system not to be corrupted by it, taken advantage of, abused, surrounded by vultures, etc. Dumping that much money on a literal kid with no protection or preparation is VERY DANGEROUS, not just because of people potentially preying on him, but also just bad for his mental/emotional development.

I have two theories. 1. He didn't know what to do with the responsibility of managing that state, so Junior convinced him that getting married was the best way for Junior to help him. That way Lye wouldn't have to give up his future simple college life and remain in control of the inheritance in the future. But then he was killed 😢 2. He was actually thinking about ending his life (many time there are no warning signs of what someone is planning to do) Yao may have wanted to do something so the money wouldn't go to his family at all... Just crazy theories
@jennifergraceh3 ай бұрын
I don’t think they sound crazy at all. It’s a very complicated situation and both theories sound quite reasonable. I suspect that the first of the two is most likely, considering he had so many future plans-with his mom, being excited for college, etc. I’ve been in that mental state before (multiple times, actually) and have attempted to self-exit and the thing that stands out is that I always felt like I had nothing to live for; nothing in life to look forward to. Of course, I’m not saying that everyone is going to have the same thought process as me. But I’m also a counselor and have had quite a few clients who have had SI, and they have all been in a very dark place. But then again, I also work with low income populations so I feel like people of a much higher socioeconomic status have different struggles in their lives than my clients and people from normal middle class backgrounds. This is just pure speculation though because I know, at the end of the day, we are all human beings with the same spectrum of emotions. In any case, it’s very sad because a young man who had so much life ahead of him and so much opportunity, lost his life and we may never know what really happened. And, if he was murdered, his killer may just go free.

If you don't mind me proposing another theory: the daughter-in-law manipulated Grandpa Lai into having a kid with her so she could get the money, however, in comes Junior, an adult with more life experience than a teenager. Junior manipulates Kid Lai into a marriage with him and, subsequently, kills Kid Lai. It doesn't make sense that Grandpa Lai just randomly decided to have another child, let alone one with his daughter-in-law. He may have been in an unhappy marriage, but I don't think he was. I also suspect that Junior had enough connections to learn about Grandpa Lai's death very quickly. Whether those connections are related to his business or personal life. Personally, I'd believe the former over the later. In the end, I'm suggesting that Kid Lai was more of a victim than previously believed.

@@michelleobrien6996 I agree with that criminology expert. His injuries (pictures and description) did not look like someone who fell off from 10th floor at all. @damien6783 ай бұрын
They're shattered?
@trinity15363 ай бұрын
@damien678 I don't think all of them are, but a lot of them, yes. The freezing process needs to be completely uninterrupted, which hasn't happened due to labs going under and outages in labs. This has resulted in some people getting thawed/refrozen, which is a huge no-no in chryogenics. Since the water in us swells when it freezes, if not done correctly, we shatter like how a poor quality ice cube from a freezer wont be clear because of the way it freezes in layers, only our layers will fall apart once thawed. There are only a few high-quality labs that might get around this, and even they are iffy, though the one in America is one of those labs, and most cryogenic labs apparently recommend only freezing the brain/head because by their (reasonable btw) logic, if we have technology advanced enough to successfully bring people back from cryogenic freezing we will also be advanced enough to just fully regenerate a human body. Super sorry about the paragraph I love talking about cryogenic freezing

There is a little girl that died from cancer & her parents "froze" her in hopes that someday they'll have a cure for her cancer & be able to bring her back. Very sad story & though I don't think it's realistic, I hope for this family, it is.

If only to not feel alone, I’d go undercover and find something to do to fulfill my life while the people around me don’t know how much money I have. Like, sign into University, a sport, something that would give me community with people from multiple walks of life and an open mind, without people having to know me for the money, just for who I am. Then only introduce the knowledge of my social standing to the people who matter, when they matter (like, after you’ve got long term friends, or a long term s/o). That’s how I see it as someone who’s never even hoped for a good heritage, but grew up going to a private West African school with politician’s kids (the kind whose parents meddled with blood diamonds and Cold War state sponsorships. I got a scholarship due to being a gifted kid w an European dad who networked insanely). If you’re in a place with people around the same race and/ or social standard, or at least the notion of it, you’re just another young person. In my experience, European Universities are very neutral to someone’s walk of life, as long as it’s not flaunted so clearly that it attracts leeching people

The grandma deserves the money. She earned it over the years and was technically still married so it’s her choice on who inherits what from this point forward. 🤷🏽♀️

This is crazy. The only way that boys' body could've been in that condition is if he was unconscious or dead when he fell imo. Its the same when someone is in an accident and they pass out, because they don't tense their bodies on impact they have less injuries There is no way. Even if he hit a tree to break his fall, his body would be in the condition it was. He would've been mangled. All his bones would've been broken from 10 stories. No, no way. 10 stories?

But even if they threw theguy from the lower floors, wouldn't something be caught on the cctv footage (unless it was tampered with) to move the boy around?? Also, the needle marks they found, did they find anything in the reports later?? This is crazy..

The suspect, surnamed Hsia (夏), was found guilty by the Taichung District Court of forging documents that caused a "civil servant to make a false entry in public records" after it concluded that Hsia did not marry the 18-year-old Lai (賴) for genuine reasons but for his fortune.

This is what I think happened: Lai hates his mom for his scandalous birth. He must have been through hell with the rest of the family (except his mom and father), school yard bullies, and the never ending gossips . He wants to self exit but doesn’t want his mom to get the money, so he gifts his fortune to Junior before ending his life.

1) Regardless of Lai's sexuality, the fact remains that Junior manipulated a teenager in order to scam him. The marriage is null & void. Junior deserves punishment for scamming, exploitation & grooming (since this manipulation definitely started early on) 2) Grandma should get the money. Even if grandpa Lai had the money, they both worked together to earn that money. Grandma Lai was actively involved in the work, worked day & night in the husk seperating thing & she also supported him by taking care of the household. She did all that & got nothing because of patriarchy. The man was in control of all the property even though she deserves it just as much. Plus, grandpa Lai is the one who chose to break everything apart so it's unfair that Grandma Lai & her kids end with nothing for no fault of their own. 3) Both grandpa Lai & daughter in law suck. However, I do think she should get a few thousands to get her life together or else she will be left with nothing. Plus, we can't ignore the weird power imbalance with grandpa Lai & DIL when their relationship started. Anyway, she should get just enough to move out & support herself till she finds a job or sumn. Since, there is a cap anyway so she should shut up & take whatever she can get & leave. Regardless, she is evil & culpable & she doesn't deserve the inheritance. 4) The police was incompetent. Not even shocking. I just have to roll my eyes. Atp the police are just for decoration & to exploit their position of power. That's all they do. ACAB or whatever Idec anymore I'm tired. They should get punished for their handling of this case. 5) Poor Lai didn't deserve any of this. The evil people around him set him up. I feel sad for the kid. He didn't ask for any of this & the family circumstances were so traumatizing for him. Grandpa Lai left a kid with millions of dollars, not leaving any safety net for him so that he could manage his money; he didn't care, he was just a spiteful, controlling old man. Lai's death has become a nasty inheritance battle & no one seems to care about the poor innocent kid who was just trying his best within the circumstances he was born in. He was so desperate that he felt like he had no one to rely on & had to put his trust on a shady stranger. It's truly heartbreaking, he must have felt so scared, confused & lonely during his last moments :( Poor child. He really wasn't even given a chance from day one. It's always the innocent who end up suffering due to the greed of others.

This is so incredibly sad for Lai... Everyone fighting over money, meanwhile that poor kid didn't ask to be born from an affair with a mistress and then shunned from his grandmother and other relatives. I can see why he would want to run away from all of this... I bet this is what he heard all of his life.

1. Who deserves the money? The biological daughter of the 2nd son, both are innocent in all of this. 2. It hurts so much to, once more, see that people care for the money more than caring for justice being served and laying poor Lai to rest properly (instead of freezing in the morgue) with the respect he deserves and maybe have some heart in this situation??? This child has done nothing wrong but has been wronged his entire short life. He's your own flesh and blood regardless of what the grandfather and the mistress have done. 3. I do believe this was a murder and a rushed case thinking they should just go about their day. I've heard and considered all possibilities, but the math ain't mathing with the rushed sudden marriage and death. The logic speaks for itself, however would be difficult to prove. The poor child was taken advantage of and discarded like trash. I hope the witnesses get this marriage annulled, just like their suspicions based of what they saw. Lai doesn't deserve to remain married to most-likely-his-murderer/scammer. 4. This family should get a grip for fucks safe. Let the matter be re-investigated and debated in court properly, before pursuing the inheritance. Is life that meaningless to you? Why did you make him the scapegoat, your anger should be towards the grandfather and the mistress. The lives of who i care for, even if not too close, are still priceless. Money comes and goes, so does health. What comes around - goes around. May karma serve you a proper dish of its own justice for the vile beings you all are. Rest in peace dear Lai. I'm sorry for all you must've gone through from such a young age, by fault of others. That your own flesh and blood won't give you the proper warmth and a proper final goodbye because they're pieces of shit. That you have been turned into public enemy number 1, because none of them decided to actually step up and fight the grandfather via legal means, and let you off because you're innocent. Wishing you the calmest time on the other side and if rebirth exists, i hope you'll come back into a great life, full of love and support. Please accept the love and care we'd like to offer, despite not knowing you. All the hugs, pats on the shoulder, "it'll be ok"s that you didn't get to hear and be reassured that you matter and innocent, and our ears that we couldn't lend you to vent to.

Well I agree but the inherentance is also the big factor in this case. Like, either Lai self-exited or murderer, both are the result of that inherentance. What they need to quickly decide is to whom the money belong, definitely not Junior. From that we can see how he respond to losing the money and take action for further investigation.

why do you say the money should go to the daughter over his legal wife? the grandmas alive....
