Let's face it, no one cares about the important technicalities behind music. It's all about the dollar signs in the pockets. The audience wants a musical? Let's give them a musical! No, let's give them a poorly named musical containing another unnamed musical! There must be romance! The two main characters must be non-theater geeks who get the leads! They must struggle through social pressure and be rewarded with miracles and forget those little details that make the whole storyline even more improbable than it already is! 😁

the issue wasn't having a good singing voice it was choosing to be in high school theater productions. those are two distinct things. theater kids get made fun of a LOT, especially the boys involved in it. plus its a really time-consuming thing to commit to so they genuinely fear his basketball playing will take a hit and they'll lose games which they understandably don't want at a school this obsessed with their sports teams. and i think if the team plays worse due to Troy, the other team members may lose out on possible scholarship opportunities by being on a team that's not impressive.

At my daughter's school, if you are a senior, you get a giant size picture of each individual plus a giant size team picture that is put up all over the school. Even if the student is in more than one activity, the picture is taken for whichever sport (or band). The band, cheerleaders & football players are put up around the football field. Baseball players pics are put up around the diamond, etc. I think the only ones that are not taken over & over again are the cheerleaders. Then, after graduation, you are given the picture.

Looking back you realize Sharpe isn't the vilian. Ok, she's rude, but think about it; she has an issue with the others who are brand new getting the lead role because they lack experience. You wouldn't want the new recruit in your job to become manager if they just graduated.

If you continue this series you NEED to address Gabriella and her manipulative, compulsive behavior. The trilogy tries to make Sharpay the villian but in reality Gabriella totally is, she abandons him in the second movie, she manipulates him into thinking she’ll attend prom with him and then refuses to return for prom in hsm3. Gabriella and Troy’s relationship was emotionally and mentally abusive!

honestly pretty much everyone in these movies are terrible. Ryan and Sharpay are the only decent onces. I mean Troy just gets away with everything and can do whatever you want Gabriella is manipulative like you said. And then i am not even talking about what Chad and Taylor did in the first movie, which is much worse then anything Sharpay has done in the movies

Video: “Now that High School Musical has long left people’s minds...” Me: “NO! NOT AT ALL!!! I HEARD PEOPLE SINGING THESE SONGS EVERY DAY DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR!!”

Bobby Arteaga Yeah... I would be part if those ppl. Like in my school, we literally still sing our childhood songs, even if it's just to joke around.

Our school did an actual MUSICAL based on the movie. A full on production and everything. It was actually pretty good.... but for over 8 months the songs were drilled into people's heads day AND night (rehearsal's and the actual show). They made ALL the songs our bell, and even before the show people loved to sing it. Those three movies won't be fading away anytime soon.

I´m a girl that grew up with High School Musical. I mean those songs were and still are an anthem. I just like to add that it is not just about a kid that plays basketball but also wants to sing, it is so much more. Its like what you said, high school puts you in boxes always have always will, so the whole point of yes breaking the status quo and showing everyone that it is okey to like more than one thing, to BE more than one thing. That was what made HSM so monumental.
