It's weird how many people gatekeep drifting and forget it was invented as another way to have fun. One day, maybe I'll find a cheap FWD car and set it up for this myself...

The issue is to get a fwd to 'drift' it makes the car not fun in every other way. Whereas a rwd drift car can be set up modestly to drift on demand and still drive normal. Granted in rain it could be a handful but hell I've been in stock vehicles that were a handful in the rain.

would like to see another video of demonstrating a voiceover about pulling the handbrake at certain times and why, etc. i really like how you can break traction so easily with that suspension. it's pretty cool. with softer suspension you can do a rally type drift where you break traction on all 4 tires while maintaining a curve but its pretty useless for linking drifts i'd imagine and you have to take a pretty wide broad unobstructed turn to come out of it cleanly. keep it up!

it's because most "drifters" don't actually drive fast, and are really only ever powersliding slowly

Did you see how much momentum he lost in every single one of these turns? Notice how when he over-rotates he has no way to control it and instead has to straighten out and gain some speed again? These kinds of problems are nearly nonexistent in rwd drift cars. The only way to drift a fwd is to manipulate the dynamics so much that the car is shit to drive any other way. I'd love to see him chain a left to right drift without using the handbrake or losing a fuckton of momentum. People aren't trying to gatekeep, they're trying to prevent you from looking like a tool and regretting what you've done to a decent daily.

This car has an LSD. I drifted my car in Aus for like 6 years without one. They are nice to have and are helpful for corner exit but defently perfectly fine to drift without one

I also noticed you can get into reverse while spinning out and not grind gears as well as downshifting into 1st without grinding. I’m sure Honda transmissions are a lot more robust but man my 88 Celicas transmission could never take so much abuse and wouldn’t go into either gear like that without grinding hard lol
