Lads just FYI there is one hand missing, just before the AQhh hand. I’m in the $40 straddle with TT. UTG opens to $100, next to act makes it $250, I cold call, UTG calls. We go 3 ways to T73r. It checks round. 2c turn, I bet $480, one caller. 6x river, I bet $1200 and he folds. Hopefully this explains the big jump in the tracker that didn’t make sense!

On the DBBP hand I’m confused how your 5s are good on the second board prior to the A turn if he’s holding JJ. I don’t think it’s completely terrible, but with middle set one one board (dry as it is) and a combo draw that not really isn’t to the nuts in any fashion, I don’t think I’m leading, and if it gets bet and then raised behind you I think it can be a pretty indifferent fold at that point.
@WarmDeck10 ай бұрын
Yeah I couldn’t agree more. The top board is super dry, but still… that’s a lot of action for middle set on one board and an under pair on the board. I think a more passive line would’ve been better here. He definitely made an error in saying 55 was good on the other board lol. I noticed that too.

I think I would do the same in the double board bomb pot. Like you said, you're only really dead to JJ with hearts and you can potentially scoop against a pocket queens hand. Pretty gross spot butI probably wouldn't fold either.

Hate double board bomb pots in plo- there is just no bluffing or fold equity, so it’s degenerate poker, single board has far more skill cause you can bluff flush boards etc, good rule of thumb is try not draw to winning half the pot so seeing turns is really cool, but getting it in there is certainly not losing money you could be up against naked QQ and it’s dreamy so UL Btw that AQhh was absolutely brutal 😢

There is for sure an edge in them but they are high variance. The bad players play them VERY badly!

This is such a silly take that single board has more skill than double board because of some nonsense idea about bluffing.
@WarmDeck10 ай бұрын
I used to think the same thing, but if you get just halfway decent at them then you’ll completely change your mind because most NL players have no idea what they’re doing in them. Whereas most NL limit players have some idea of what they’re doing in NL dbl board bomb pots.
@tommyfu92718 ай бұрын
there is a huge edge in them. most people fold too much or not enough. obviously high variance and one hand can take a while. single board pots are awful, double board is awesome. pure chaos.

not trying to nitpick but just a heads up your 55 wasn't ahead on the 2nd board if he had AJJ4 as JJ>55 which you obv know just probably overlooked in the heat of the moment

I have mixed feelings about double board bomb pots. I enjoy playing them, but some players sit them out (totally understand and no one should be shamed into playing) and they definitely slow the game down especially in complex pots with multiple hands going to showdown (lots of times I have had to help the dealer figure out the pot especially when you get into quarters). I think your play was fine. I always dislike calling to chop, but other than JJ you have the top board covered and have a reasonable flush draw (9 high) on the bottom board. Just bad luck to run into JJ. BTW - you said your pocket 5s were ahead on the bottom board, but not if he had AJJ4 as his JJ had you beat on both (top vs. middle set on the top and JJ vs. 55 on the bottom).
@tommyfu92718 ай бұрын
people sitting out shouldn't be shamed UNLESS they try and play only when they're the button. i've seen a few guys do this and i called them all out and a few times got the table to refuse to do them on their button when all of the sudden they wanted to play.
@danielhewitt12210 ай бұрын
I think you whaled it off in the PLO hand, when multiple bets and stacks are going in on the flop you want nut or nut potential. Not speculative hands where you can be dead on both boards. I think the edge in this game comes from opponents getting stacks in when they have the 3rd nuts on one board and vulnerable draws on the other. I think I prefer checking the flop and realizing as cheap as possible with good but potentially dead hands.
@garyblackwoodpoker10 ай бұрын
We are in the cutoff with a middle set and a combo draw, I think suggesting checking flop is maybe being a bit results oriented?

Gary, you and I have played together a few times at Hustler and I play professionally also. The issue with PLO bomb pots is that so much of it is just luck.
