5 inch I believe. I use old power poles for a lot of corner posts though.

I think of tractor supply as the harbor freight of farm supplies. I'm like you, some things I get from them, some things I don't. I find that the fencing tools that come out of New Zealand and Australia are head and shoulders above what you can find here in farm stores. More expensive but worth it. I hate everything i have bought from china that has anything to do with fencing.

Thank you! You can check out the 101 video we did to get an idea of some of the earlier mistakes we made. I’ll actually be updating this video later this year with some more lessons learned as we get our next pig pasture fenced.

High tensile is designed to be used with springs and strainers together, so I’m curious why you left the springs out on all but the top wire? Not only do they eliminate the frequent need to adjust tension due to seasonal temperature changes, but they also keep the wire from breaking when heavy tree limbs fall on it.

High tensile wire has enough flex in it they aren't really necessary to keep the lines from breaking. Not that it doesn't happen just that it takes such big branches to do it it's not super common. Particularly using fiberglass posts they tend to slide on it when something falls on them. We've found the biggest issue is over tightening lines and really just making a slightly snug line and re-tensioning it once after initial install when everything takes a set seems to be the ideal way to put it together. We have actually changed our design now that we no longer use any springs.

How do you feel about the timeless fence posts?
@timberlinetactical

I think they’re a great product. They are more expensive than the fiberglass glass posts from power flex but they are 100% ready to go in the ground. As our cash flow increases with our business growth we will probably swap to them.

In your last video you said 12 ft post spacing for goats... In this video you say 20 ft but don't mention any animals... Can you clarify?
@timberlinetactical

This is actually something that has changed over time a bit as our fencing practices have worked out issues. But 20feet is acceptable for cattle but won’t hold goats in. As a side note we do 8 feet simply because it tends to hold everything and it meets Alabama fence law requirements and frees us of liability if an animal escapes. Thanks for watching
