An absolute awesome place to fish. Well done. Love drifting shad. Don't know how many drum I've caught that I thought were flatties. Had some lengthy battles on light tackle.

An awesome spillway indeed. Drum will surprise you with their power - especially when they have the current to work with. I think the current was making every fish feel 10 lbs + on this day. Thanks for watching!

Slicker than snot on a doorknob lol no doubt... That first flat head super dark was awesome looking

I can't remember what movie I stole that from but I think it works in that situation. Those little flatheads always have the coolest patterns. Thanks for watching!

The Spillway King back at it. Nice Gasper Goos. Snot on a doorknob? Wild.

This did appear to be the drum hole. I think I stole the snot on a doorknob line from a movie but I can't remember the movie. Thanks for watching!

Great video, awesome spot! Gotta love when those drum slam the bait, some of the best hitting fish for sure. Would be interested in how they taste. Nice mix of fish!

Thanks, drum seem to be one of the least popular fish to catch in our area but they hit hard, fight pretty good, are willing biters and according to most seasoned anglers I talk to, are good to eat. What's not to love?

I was just down there fishing on the opposite side. First time fishing a spillway. Only thing I caught were shad when I was pulling my jig out of the rocks. They were EVERYWHERE!
@BackroadsAngling3 ай бұрын
Ya, these spillways are full of shad this time of year. It makes you wonder why a fish would ever bite your bait when they already have millions of shad to choose from.

That is crazy-fun looking action right there. Wow.

It was a fun couple of days not knowing what was going to bite next. Thank you!

Killer spillway bite! Haven't you been there before, though? Also, thats (7:34) one of the best looking river drum I've seen.
@BackroadsAngling3 ай бұрын
Yes, I usually fish on the other side. Mike told me to check out the "spot on the spot" where I filmed this video. The drum at this spillway look very healthy and pristine. It's a far cry from the drum I catch at the other spillway - those look lean and scurvy during the summer months. Thank you!

I went to the same spot a couple months ago in the evening. There were so many campers out there that I knew it would kill the mood, so I went elsewhere. I had lots of fun there in February, though. Recently, I went to a couple new-to-me creeks that I haven't seen in your videos. If you want, I could share them with you.

It's a scenic spot with all the cliffs, etc. I have up and down luck here - sometimes is great but other times it can be pretty tough. I have some new creeks on my list that I would like to try but the water has been so high for much of the year I haven't had a chance to try them yet. Maybe I'll hit you up sometime if I'm looking to explore. I appreciate you offering your spots up. Cheers!

Looks like some good catching. Nice when they cooperate like that. I’ve been thinking of buying a cast net to add some live bait fishing. What would you recommend for size and weight?
@BackroadsAngling3 ай бұрын
Thanks, these multi-species outings are some of my favorite. I just included a link in the description to the cast net I use. It is a super spreader brand. I included the link to the 6 ft radius one but I think the one I'm using is 5 ft radius. I used to use a 6 ft but I found this smaller one in a local river and the smaller size actually makes it a lot easier to throw. This one has 3/4 inch mesh which it says catches 3 inch and up bait fish. Go smaller on the mesh if you want to catch shiners or smaller shad.
