Wondering if you thought the amount of helmet to helmet contact was egregious from the 49ers this game. Saw it multiple times including the Jennings strangle of Terrion Arnold was crazy to me there were no calls made 😮

I thought the same thing too. I was screaming especially in the first half a bunch of times. Jake got smoked in the face and Gibbs got his cheek cut from one also. That wasn’t the only 2 for sure.

@ he shows the LaPorta hit where the last dude to jump in clearly only did so as LaPorta was going down. There was another direct helmet to facemask on LaPorta as well then when Goff when down and Bosa got hit by his own dude both were leading with their helmet…. Bosa’s was helmet to chest so I kinda get it but other dude again only came in after Goff was going down. There is also a play with kittle trying to come down on branch with his elbow mid tackle. And if you caught Warners speech in the beginning of the game he straight up says that type of shit is the plan/injuries are the plan. Garbage team with low character players angry they not even making the playoffs this year

I think the game comes down to turnovers & 3rd/4th down efficiency, especially in the red zone. The other key storyline is whose blitz package wins the day, as both teams will do it at least 55% of all defensive snaps. From that standpoint, Goff is deadly vs the blitz. That comes from receiver connection & history you spoke of and more specifically Goff is great at pre & post-snap reads. THAT is the biggest difference between LA-Goff & Det-Goff! Every play that the 🦁s call has 2-3 run/pass options, and then options within those options that Goff can adjust to based on what he is seeing @ the time...which strikes me as more of a "baseball"-type observation from a pitcher perspective. The action starts with the ball in your hands type insight.There is the game plan, the mound visit and then the noticed glance that the base-runner has widened his lead, like Goff noticing that the Vikes switched to single high & Jamo is 1 on 1 on the outside. I think this game comes down to QB smarts & mistakes, especially forced mistakes.🤔 The really crazy thing is that both QB's are excellent vs the blitz (Darnold @QB rating of 140.4 vs blitz), so "how" the expected pressure packages work is important. The game will be a test of pressure really for the Vikes. They haven't faced THIS kind of pressure since their 1st game playoff loss to the Giants. By contrast, the 🦁s have played @ this level since 12/22, when they knocked GB out if the playoffs & AR-15 to New York. That '23 season opener with KC presaged the 🦁s " "shine" from then to now in primetime games is 10-1. I expect games within games for Johnson vs Flores. Defensively speaking, getting Anzalone back on defense is huge for the 🦁s. 🦁38-24 #313GRIT

Just starting to watch this video, but I want to get a comment in on another aspect of the game against the 49'rs,....can you do a breakdown on the Lions defensive scheme in the 1st half versus the 2nd half? I suspect, (and hope) that Aaron Glenn was holding back in the 1st and even in the 2nd half to a degree. Maybe keeping his cards close to the vest going into the Minnesota game and playoffs? At 16:34 Gibbs needs to hang with Peni longer and follow him through the play. He bounces off to early on a few of these plays where he may have scored if he just stays patient. Don’t get me wrong he is doing great but can still get better. You can see that only the safety is unblocked on the right side leaving the field open for him.

Not to discredit Ben Johnson but what's been lost in all this talk is... Jared Goff is the Driver! Not a coincident he's been on many High Powered offenses on 2 diff teams. He didnt have Cupp in the SB. The current Rams offense still hasnt reach peaked Goff/McVay levels.
