According to data from the health care analytics company Truveta, rates of cannabis-induced disorders grew more than 50% between 2019 and November 2023. I am a proponent of weed legalization, but I had weed induced psychosis 5 times that could have killed me and ruined my life. My brain is just not wired for the strength of weed that is out there now. I am deathly afraid of psychosis now and will never touch weed again, or any other substance for that matter. I’m afraid we will see a lot more cases of weed psychosis as more states legalize and the industrialization of weed leads to hyper potent weed that will trigger many people who are predisposed to psychosis.

This is no longer just “a plant found in nature” if the potency of the THC is purposefully being strengthened. If you artificially strengthen the caffeine in coffee beans you can have a really bad time from caffeine overdose. Smoking regular potency marijuana like they did in the 1960’s is fine but this has become almost like someone is dropping acid just from a vape.

After she takes the weed just like that she went, psychotic stabbed the dog and she loved the dog stabbed the boyfriend and stabbed her self 47 times they found the knife in her neck I believe. If she did not have 47 self stab wounds they might not believe that she was psychotic, it was obvious it was the weed. A man killed his wife but has no clue what happen they found out he killed her in his sleep he is a sleep walker, they watched him as he sleep with wire and sensors hooked up and they saw he acted out his dreams. So it is not s simple case of it is is a man he would be locked up, people would think that in this red pill era, and ignore that women are on death row in some places for killing men. You have to look at the evidenced and it is clear the woman who stab the boyfriend was not in her normal state of mined.

Exactly...I'm "lightweight" so the dabs/extracts that are up to 90% THC is just way too much, most likely too much for anyone but folks in hospice or cancer treatments...the weed back in the day was way lower in THC btw and yes, those with history of severe psych disorders like schizophrenia should not imbibe. Even my cannabis Drs first question was regarding mental health history. I've found it helps my ADHD but in "microdose" in lower doses w/higher CBD/CBN/CBG/Ocimene/Humulene and flower or tincture/medible form only. Always have a sitter if you're trying higher doses of anything and in moderation.

In California, weed is cheap and is on average 30% THC. The strongest weed I've smoked was 37%. I stopped using cannabis due to it no longer being compatible with my bipolar disorder. I experienced cannabis induced psychosis after consistent use over 10 years. If you have any psychiatric condition, daily use is not for you. Be careful.

BIG surprise (not) that big pharma hates cannabis now, I have contracted for big pharma (GENENTECH), as soon as the federal ban is lifted they are ready, I helped them setup extraction tanks that are several stories high just waiting to process cannabis. I have worked in the cannabis industry now for over 10 years but I smoked my first joint in the seventies. Working as a Budtender you get to hear all the stories, good and bad, mostly good in general. Eating a lot of edibles can be disorienting for some people though as they are much more potent due to the fact that your liver processes the cannabinoids.

I an a new user of THC. I can understand through the experiences I've had, why people "freak out", but the benefits seem to far out weigh the adverse effects. Just use it in moderation. Like anything, too much of anything is bad for you. And another word of advice would be to go slow, take a little at first, and check the dosage.

LOL how do you check the dosage on pot? Most people still buy it off their dealers because they are cheaper then the dispensaries. Just a FYI, I suggest you check out the studies that show regular use does not "chill" people out. They develop a tolerance and need more on top of lacking much real effect. The GREAT thing about making it legal is that they can actually study it now, and that if you hAVE problems we can go to the ER without worrying about getting jailed. And that there are dispensaries where you can check the dosage, and know it is clean stuff. Around here they like lacing it with meth. I may seem like I do not like the legalization, But actually I have called for it since the 1980s. I simply am also someone that requires scientific proof ( which just means repeatable testing and validation of perceived effects)

Up here in Canada I took a legal weed cart for the 1st time, Cannabis induced psychosis. Now diagnosed with prodromal schizophrenia and in early onset. Idk if this illness would’ve came as fast if I didn’t smoke pot but it’s just not for some people and there should be a serious label warning that if psychosis is in your family it’s a serious risk

Look at all the "possible" side effects of almost every drug out there. take aspartame, which induces anxiety and nervousness in about 5% of the people worldwide. They know it, but they do not warn you unless you seek it out. Even then it is hard to find. Sorry btw for your problems, mental health stuff is real, and I am glad you got help instead of trying to fight it on your own. I wish the world would take better care of itself and consider mental health a part of the whole health system properly.
