With airtight storage, dried herbs typically last 1-3 years. Ground, or powdered, spices typically have a shelf life of 2-3 years. If stored properly, whole spices can last up to 4 years. Expiration dates are a use by guideline for maximum flavor and potency. Bottom line, you'd have to use a greater amount to achieve the same flavors.

My daughter-in-law had a birthday party for my son when he turned 40 a few years ago and she put out vegetables and dip. The dip was the most amazing thing I have ever tasted in my life. I asked her how she made it and she said oh it’s so easy. It’s just a package of hidden valley ranch and a container of sour cream. I use this for my husband‘s blue cheese salad dressing I use it for dip. You can use it as a spread on wraps.

As a southerner, we eat Ranch on everything. Everything? Yes. Everything. One of my favorite bar foods are Ranch Wings (its a fried chicken wing with dry ranch mix in the flour with a lot of salt). Then, we dip said Ranch Wings into Ranch dressing. I'm completely convinced that some folks dip their Ranch dressing into Ranch dressing!

Thank you for this awesome video, Wes! I do think that the first recipe's ratio of 1:1 mayo and sour cream really helped it to be creamier. I've found that that is my preferred ratio as well. Keto ranch dressing is so easy! I started out with Wholesome Yum's recipe, which is truly divine! But now I don't really even use a recipe. I do single servings when I make my salad. Just a tablespoon of both sour cream and mayo with my choice of spices. I always add a little garlic and onion powder, but everything else is up in the air! I love adding everything but the bagel seasoning. It's one of my favorites. Add a little dill, chives and parley and you have a lovely ranch! My advice is, start with a good recipe. Make it several times until you know it by heart. Then, start playing around . Variety is the spice of life! :)

The second recipe is the one I've been using for a couple years now. As I'm no longer as carb-phobic as I used to be, I've switched out the sour cream for greek yogurt. Tastes pretty close and has like less than 1/2 the calories. I also add a couple tbsp of pickle juice. Makes it more dill-y (I love dill) and gives a bit of that buttermilk taste from the vinegar mixing with the yogurt.

Hi Wes - fresh herbs are easy to grow, especially if you live in the south. If you have room in your backyard, clear a little patch, or set some pots on your deck, and grow your favorites. That way, you will get the delicious freshness without the grocery store expense. I'll send you seeds if you like, as my way of saying "thanks!" for the wonderful content you produce. I have many kinds, but the most best to grow yourself are basil, thyme, parsley, dill, rosemary, oregano, peppermint, spearmint, summer savory, cilantro, and sage. Just ask, and I'll send whichever seeds you want. 🙂

Also, make this the night before using so the flavors come together: 1 t Parsley ½ t Garlic powder ¼ t Onion powder 1/8 t Dill 1/8 t Thyme 1/8 t Paprika 1/8 t Red Pepper flakes 1 t Salt ¾ t Pepper ½ c Mayo ½ c Sour Cream 2 T Heavy Cream w/ 1 t Lemon Juice OR White Vinegar edited to add: this was dip to serve with Buffalo Wings (yep, had to homemake that sauce as well, lol). If you want a thinner dressing style, just add a larger amount of the heavy cream/lemon.
