Berm Peak

Күн бұрын

Just for fun, I traveled to Austin Texas to attend the grand opening of Spider Mountain, a 350 foot lift served downhill mountain bike park. I’ve never seen, much less ridden a park that small with a lift, and Spider Mountain is actually kind of revolutionary. First of all, Spider Mountain is the first year round lift park in the United States. Second of all it contains the only chair lift in the state of Texas.
Nearby Spider Mountain is Reveille Peak Ranch, which contains some of the best riding Texas Hill Country has to offer.
Also during this visit I got to see my friend Scott, who I rode BMX with as a kid. We got to ride with Eric from the KZbin Channel “No Front Brakes” as well, during the grand opening.

I think it's great that they added the lift out there. The are a couple of places around Kansas City that have lifts for snow skiing, during a short season. A lot of people have been asking! I threw that one on while waiting for seals to arrive for my Pike. I'm going to leave the Fox 36 though because it feels really nice. I changed it to 150mm to keep to spec with the bike. Changing it up can be fun!

@@SethsBikeHacks hey seth how do i fix a broken front axle, a cracked suspension (the lock thing not the suspension itself), a bent hangar, a seat that needs to have 100000000 pounds of force to stay clamped, and how do i rewire my shifter cables? also my pedal snapped into 2 pieces but i lost the other half. It snapped when i was riding down a street. it was aluminum. and no i dont have a walmart bike, just *never buy a trek marlin 5* if you plan to do anything but ride in a circle

and before someone says it yes i did take care of the bike. Ever since the pedal snapped though i've given up, it was the straw that broke my ankle when my ankle hit the aluminum

Totally agree with your comment about Atlanta. They've got some great hills there, and an active mountain bike community, so I'm surprised there isn't one already. I went mountain biking in the northern part of Georgia, and it was a blast! Just found your channel, love it, keep up the good work.

A flow trail in Texas would be insanely expensive. Here is why: Texas has a super thick layer of limestone right beneath the walking surface. Most of it is actually sticking out of the ground. To make a flow trail, people will have to hire excavators to come and carve out the rock, and haul dirt in. That's why most of the trails are tech trails.

Hill country yes but the rest of the state, no so. Just no hills. In Midland/Odessa, their mountain biking park is in an abandon caleche pit! Maybe a 100 ft. deep but that is all they have. You make do with what you have and I am glad the Austin area got this park.

Brigham Hawkins theres a plus and a minus to the limestone. i helped dig at spider and while yes, the limestone is a pain, its also soft enough to break apart with some good pickaxe work, and the leftover limestone dust and pebbles mix well with existing soil to create excellent malleable dirt that stays dry in the rain.

Us Houstonians are pretty bummed that we didn't get a mention since we have More Downhillers in H-Town than Austin, Dallas and San Antonio combined. We drive farther than all of the other Texas cities for DH fun. I was the first Texan to get a Uci Pro DH License in 1999 in fact. Did my first DH race at Mammoth Mountain down the Kamikaze in 1994 and never looked back. Killer video and I Love your channel but just had to say we were a little bummed. Spider is So much fun.
