I remember watching this as a teenager, and loving this scene because of the music and of course the little conversation they have at the end of the scene before going to bed together... I was immensely pleased and surprised when the TV series used this same song during the montage of scenes at the end of the series finale. I saw the first film when I was about 10 years old, I'm 42 now, and Highlander (the franchise as a whole) is still one of my top 3 favorite fictional universes.

Much of the mix-ups in this movie hint at the lives these characters live through hundreds of years of experience and travel. I have always wondered about Sean Connery's character. He was called The Spaniard, spoke with a Welsh accent, dressed like a French fop, and carried a Japanese katana with a carved ivory dragon handle. What did that man live through to gather those vastly different elements into a single life?

The message of this song; the destruction of old growth forests (those of Ireland in the song) really resonates in today's world.

Thinking back to this movie so many years ago, It is easy to forget what a great story concept this was. The individual movies after the first one went haywire but there were some great scenes throughout.

It’s amazing the tools and metals he left behind haven’t rusted away after all these centuries. Also, why didn’t she just bring him the sword blade as well?

Lambert didn't pay much attention during sword wielding classes. Putting his left leg in front all the time while striking with a right handed double grip lol
@chrisgibson52676 жыл бұрын
We use a variety of sources for our longsword and backsword training. Tend to favour right foot forward when striking from the right. Nice to see an homogenous piece of steel used but a little hand and arm protection wouldn't have gone amiss.

Still Legendary no matter what ppl says .i Agree its too cheesy . Only if thay had more better producer with little more seriouse story and details .This thema could be one of the best ever made on Film cinema . Actor is born for this rolle Cristopher Lambert was so intresting actor . he had something in the eyes and the voice also . He carry on the Rolle and brought something spetial with his character .But unfortunatly never had luck to work with seriouse producents . And still no matter what i grown up on this movie and the Highlander is movie of my youth .. :)

I think this scene is awesome. The smithing and swordplay might be poor, but it builds slowly while telling such a good story, without hardly a spoken word. It does everything right that film making should do.

You have to remember, Lambert actually hurt himself a few times whilst doing the sword training scene as he has profound myopia.
