I find myself thinking back to the 2007 World Cup. Australia put 100 points on Japan easy. My word how far they have come!!!! It has been an absolute privilege to watch the Blossoms emerge on the world stage as genuine contenders. Makes me think of similar strides the Pumas have made. What a joy to see Rugby Union spreading across the globe and more nations stepping up to make this great sport truly a world game. Hats off to Japan! An exciting future for the game awaits us all!!!

The early 90s to early 2010s were a strange 20 year period where some teams got the jump on professionalism before others. That's how you end up with South Africa putting 90 points on Wales in the late 90s, and the big results against Japan that you mentioned. Yeah they've done well to catch up but a lot of it is more to do with getting back to a truer balance as existed before rugby went professional in 95. It's actually the big 50+ thumpings in the 90s and 00s that are the anomalies, as the big unions and nations had all the benefits of professionalism before the others.

Rather NZ-centric thinking on your part which treats Japan as a convenient feeder team to groom future coaches. I'm an AB's fan al day long, but the best team did not win today. Reminds me of the Scotland game where Scotland had a chance to win it save for a bad pass from Hogg (a theme sadly for such an otherwise phenomenal player). If Yamanaka holds on to the intercept, he's in. If the forward pass to RTS is called then, Japan are up by 5 or 7. With that momentum, skill, and belief, I really think they could have won this game. All that being said, what a massive level of growth from Japan. It's only a matter of time before Japan beats them. Ireland suffered losses like this and look where they are now. It was so nice game! I was so impressed though out the game. The most number of audience today at New National stadium in Japan. That’s number broke the record which Kawasaki frontale vs Paris sangelman was having record on Sep 2022. This things make us to be impressed. I like both teams which is sharing similar island culture and multiple culture. I think these perspectives are influencing for two teams culture and playing style.

Dude, you do realize that numbers wise, logistics wise, money wise, scientificly, educationally, society wise that all the odds are stacked in their favour right? They have 500,000 plus registerd rugby players alone. 10,000s of thousands of whom, have been through special rugby academies and get full scholarships to play rugby at universities. All throughout Japan. They have the money to buy some of the best international players and coaches and learn from their expertise. They also have scouts going around the world looking forbthe best emerging talents from high school age and entice then to come to Japan. The bigger surprise is that with all that against them, a tiny little nation like NZ without that level of professionalism and only 50,000 registered rugby players can compete against them. Waot till Japan starts beating NZ regularly, and you soon see how fake the humble, humble thing is with the the Japanese.

@@新型コロナは空事です How many actual NZ born players are in the All Black team? I dont think you can point fingers at the Japanese for their imports. How many imports are there in just about all the teams, with the exception of perhaps Argentina and South Africa?
@Sabundy2 жыл бұрын
@@pxxbuch6523 correct. With the exceptions of South Africa and Argentina all national rugby teams have imported players. It's hardly unique to Japan. It just stands out more obvious because it's a racially homogeneous country

@@新型コロナは空事です I'm going to call a little bit of bullshit to your claims. Now....of course you are right about them having money and resources. And that does give anyone an advantage. But I think you are making a false equivalence by comparing it to New Zealand. New Zealand is a developed and wealthy country too last time I checked. It's hardly as if New Zealand lacks resources. You are acting as if you are comparing Japan to say Fiji. Also, it's the national sport of New Zealand and it's deeply ingrained in the culture there. All of those factors are exactly how such a small population can produce so many great players and such a strong team. Japan by contrast did not even have a proper professional league until one year ago (only a semi amateur corporate league). And until the 2019 World Cup the vast majority of Japanese people had never even seen a rugby game nor knew what it was. So them getting to a level where they are able to challenge the All Blacks as they did in this game is a clear sign of progress in their development. Certainly any country having money and resources should not allow it to buy its way into any top competition. I think most rugby fans would be against that. But Japan actually has beaten many tier one teams (including South Africa!) at world cup level. And made it to the quarter finals. And now come very close to beating the ABS. They have done the hard work to get to where they are now, and produced actual results. That's what people are giving them credit for. And as for the foreign born players.....mate except for South Africa and Argentina.....every team has them. Many the same amount as Japan. It's not unique to Japan. It just stands out with Japan because it's an ethnically homogeneous country. Your issue is with the IRB for loosening the rules so that the proliferation of foreign born players on everyone's national teams is allowed. Just go look how many Kiwis, Aussies, and South Africans are playing for Scotland, Wales, and Ireland. And look at how much better all their teams have become.
