Canada dominated in some ways, yes, but it was still helped by referees as always. And you should at least appreciate, if someone who isnt a native english speaker says something and it maybe hasnt the precise meaning you understand behind it, I wonder how many languages an average canadian or american speaks, tough luck you cannot even understand that much. I think that the result 6:3 is as expected. Canada is in my opinion the strongest team of this championship, but Slovakia is also team you should not mess with. Gg guys!

I would say Sweden is the strongest team at the tournament. They have quite a few players that will be on their Olympic squad but are still missing a couple of their stars (Pettersson & Nylander). Maybe 1 or 2 players on Team Canada will be on their Olympic squad.

The result was never in doubt. Slovakia showed lack of urgency and made too many untimely mistakes. It was 2:0 before the game even started. No shame losing to Canada but at least I was expecting a contest.

If Slovakia had gotten a few friendly bounces on their many close chances this game could have turned out very differently. Good game, very entertaining, some heated tempers and chippy-ness on both sides. That's how we Canadians like our hockey. Fast and rough. Who's next?

Nicely said, although with all due respect some situations are purely about arrogance when it comes to certain canadian players, as always. I just wish you guys would also see the plenty situations, when Slovaks were fouled and no whistle sounded - thats not right, like tanev and Slaf - Slaf clearly being held down and at the end both were sent to the penalty boxes, because Slaf was standing his ground on that

I actually thought the Slovaks were more chippy than us...I personally rather we stay away from the chippy stuff...it always gets un in trouble in international play and plays into the IIHF refs hands...Bedard's penalty was really undisciplined and could have cost us...and he's been mostly invisible so far. Wish we had Makar or McKinnon. Don't know why we didn't keep a few spots like the Czechs did for Pasta Necas and Zacha.

@@lubosduda9227 as usual with IIHF refs it's a travesty of Missed calls, bad calls and, no calls...for all teams. the call in OT tonight on the Finns was just criminal and in OT. They are the worst at calling "make up" calls. In the Canada Czech game they missed a call that should have put Czechs 5 on 3 and they should called a double minor or 5 min major on the nasty Czech Highstick for drawing blood. IIHF refs are so terrified of letting a game get out of hand that make it worse by making utterly bogus calls and or letting the stick work go that is more common in IIHF hockey than in the NHL. Most IIHF refs wouldn't last a week in the NHL..They'd get eaten alive.

Team defense has always been Slovakia's weakness. They have trouble defending against even the weakest teams in the top tier. But drawing a match-up against Canada in the knockout round before the semifinals is always just bad luck.

Mid 3rd period, I was all set to sing Bedard's praises. Gave Nick Paul a gorgeous feed for a goal, was one of Canada's most dangerous guys offensively, played a good 2-way game, got rewarded with more ice time, even spent time on our top line. A+ kid... BUT BUT BUT... Then Bedard gets caught chasing after his lost stick, leading to a 3 on 2 and a goal against. No bigee boyo, still brought your A game today. Then Bedard recklessly high sticks a Slovak in the offensive zone Fortunately, the refs miss it. Damn you're starting to look like a liability again kid. Then, with about 5 minutes left, and with the ref holding his arm up, indicating a delayed penalty against Canada, Bedard compounds the misery by taking an un-sportsman-like conduct penalty at the worst possible time. So now, Canada is 2 men short for 2 minutes or less. A game Canada had salted way is suddenly in doubt. Are you kidding me Bedard? That was immature, selfish and stupid, plus we've seen this movie before. If memory serves, the camera showed Bedard's parents in the crowd, during the previous game vs Czechs. Hopefully, they grounded THE KID, cause he friggen deserved it! C-MINUS Bedard, and that's being kind! xxx PS: Sure, the first Slovak goal was an unlucky own goal by Canada... BUT BUT BUT.... Slovaks missed a LOT of glorious scoring opportunities, wide open nets... The final score likely shoulda been much closer than it was. Canada, seemingly determined to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, looked on the verge of another 3rd period meltdown (Bedard are your ears burning?)

SVK played basic hockey, but has not the depth to win against a strong team. Cda is improving. Needs to play a full 60 minutes with intensity, AND stop taking stupid penalties. Cda nearly fell apart in the final 5 min. Bedard played much better this game, but still can't stay out of the box at crucial times... jinxed? If Cda can play a strong defence, can win gold.

guys slovakia players are weakness in menatality. this is why they cant advance. 2 shoots miss to empty net is problem in head. Anyway canada is always the toughest opponent because every world cup refree forgive them many penalties minutes.

Canada won because they were the better team. Congrats to them they deserved it. It is kind of suspicious that the referee was Czech….( it is like a ref from the USA would be refereeing a Canada game of course he is gonna neglect you ). If the ref would have called more fouls the game could have been actually a bit more entertaining and closer. I’m not saying if Slovakia won it would be deserved then. Anyway ggs to Canada
