This is the perfect situation. Canada didn't exactly play their A game, as they looked a bit rusty at times... and yet still win with the great talent they have against an outmatched Panama team. I expect them to play better in the final.

Not outmatched, coach from panama didnt plan the game well. When panama touched the ball , one two first touch , canada struggles. That is canadas weakness , whenever a team does that to canada , they get weak.

Bubaroon, Panama practiced together for weeks & Canada only did for a few days. Canada did not allow more than 1 goal over a year of qualifier games, until after they had clinched 1st place & that included 4 combined games versus USA & Mexico & Canada beat both of them. Do you seriously think that all of those teams didn't try the "first touch one, two" approach against them? John Herdman is excellent at having Canada adjust to other teams strategies during the games & his team responds very well.. Sorry, but if Canada plays to their capabilities & with a full effort, they should beat the pretty good Panamanian team each time. Having said that, I believe that Panama is the 4th best Concacaf team & improving, so who knows how good they will get in the future.

Club season ended recently, long seasons for some players also involved with European and domestic cup games. Most summer international games are not the best for many teams. Get the win, no red cards, no injuries and you move on.

Canada truly ended up being in the 'Group of Death', due to FIFA's archaic & misguided ranking system. That is why Canada needs to start winning tournaments now, to gradually improve their ranking as we head towards the 2026 World cup.

I like what I see. But counter attaqcking only is not really effective, otherwise Mourinho would still be someone. Canada needs more than muscle and speed, it needs someone with vision and brains in the middle. They really need a 10 to set the pace and provide the speed they already have with more options, a quarterback can do that, Canada needs a 10. The keeper is very good, I like his work.

Jose, Eustaquio in the midfield has excellent vision & brains & makes excellent passes & creates terrific offensive plays, while playing great defence. He is a star for Porto & he is as good as anyone in Concacaf. Junior Hoilett, who plays for Reading, sometimes plays a #10 type role. He is very experienced & an intelligent player. Occasionally Alphonso Davies is moved to that central position too. Herdman is continuously adjusting to the opposition's set-up with these strategic moves.

Tjnholmes, I agree that the American fans should go out & watch other teams play, if they are going to host these tournaments. Having said that, to be fair, the U.S. team was playing immediately afterwards, so that would be a lot of soccer in one day for the U.S. fans. Allegiant stadium is very large & it holds 65,000 people & Vegas, for example, is 4,138 kms from Montreal, so, even if 10,000 Canadians made the expensive long trip, the stadium would still have looked empty.

@@HunRockRocks , I would summarise that the team was not unexpectedly rusty, having only practiced for a few days beforehand in extreme heat. Their play was up & down. They played a wide open forward press attack versus Panama. They will be much more defensive versus the U.S. & allow the U.S. to possess the ball a lot up to the half way mark on the field & then play a block/transition game, which is how we tied & beat the Americans in the qualifiers. The U.S. will not have Dest & McKinnie, who both got red cards vs Mexico & that will help Canada too. Especially Dest, who had a terrific defensive game versus Mexico & would have covered Davies if he had played. McKinnie often gives the U.S. midfield a lot of energy. I have no doubt that Canada will reach another level for this final game & a few more days of practice will help & Alphonso Davies will be starting too. It should be a very close match.

I can't support the 'mens' team, while there is NO support shown to the 'women's team'. Hockey is the SAME way. three Olympic golds,back to back to back, effectively 12years running..But that was taken away from them because the mens team finally won a gold, years after their last. Now our ladies international soccer team have earned the chance to move up on the world stage,,,but get less ,NO, support,,,so I show my support for the ladies teams,If, there is something to support. I have to think that both Canada and the US sports powers are put off by the fact that the women's teams are at the level and at times better than their male counterparts. Today, the vast majority of fully dedicated sports fans are men, who pack the stadiums (and the bars) to watch sports & for whatever reason, men seem to prefer watching other men play sports. Taking nothing away from the women athletes; but the fan interest has almost nothing to do with the money, as it is quite obvious that most men seem to believe that men's sports are more entertaining. Whether that is just a natural bias, or not, it is an absolute fact. That is probably not going to change anytime soon, so, since professional sports are businesses, your logical solution therefore should probably be to recruit millions of more women to become avid sports fans & have them attend the women's games & generate a lot more money for women's sports, as paying customers.

hello I am happy that you recognized my rebellious way lol. Now the Main difference between men's and women's sports in general is money. Yes attending the games along with merchandise is the main financial support. In order to maintain and grow(on both sides) is Promoting the event. Any event, needs Promoting in order to even try to survive then succeed. Where there is no promotion of the event there's not much chance of success. So I'd be thinking, if I wanted Women's sports to become financially successful, then I would promote them to that level. I mean if you don't ask through promotions, then one won't know if the support, and money is there. After all they find the money for Mens sports that way. Or maybe....I'm being one sided? ;) In any event stay safe tks for your thoughts
