I went to a train wreck and a football game broke out. Better lucky than good (I'm in California, got no dog in this fight). I just noticed the commentators' names - Gareth Roberts and Gareth Owen. My given names are Robert Owen, named for, well, Robert Owen by my jingoistic father, a Celtic patriot fifth generation immigrant to California who figured he was 50% Cornish (Fiddick), 50% Welsh (Edwards) and 50% Scots (Wallace and Bruce). Do the math, if you dare. It's Celtic number theory. My ancestors were tin miners from Cornwall and coal miners from Wales, hoping to cash in on the 1849 gold rush. They missed out despite settling directly over the biggest mother lode in California. So the family leaned on the Scots cattle rustling branch, built a massive ranch on land that now houses the American fleet of U-2 and (formerly) SR-71 reconnaissance planes (Beale AFB). Some luck. I just noticed that Wrexham sits in Wales, just below Liverpool. I imagine you boys got some half-dense accents up there. But how would you know? Fair play, Wrexham. Ugly but effective.

No worries pal. These highlights are for the game that was played on Sat 7th Jan. In the FA cup, teams are randomly drawn against each other for each round. Whoever wins, goes through to the next round. If the game is a draw (tied) then they will play a 'replay' a few days later to determine a winner. Wrexham only played Coventry once because they won the game. They now go on to play Sheffield United in the next round (4th round).

@Kenneth Finnegan Yes, Coventry is three levels above, so is Sheffield. We beat Oldham in the first FA Cup round. They are at the same level as Wrexham. We then beat Farmborough. They are one level lower.

@LOSTshowfan is right. And as for Sheffield United. They are the same level as Coventry, which is to say, the Championship. 3 leagues above Wrexham and 1 below the Premier League. They are currently 2nd in the Championship, which means if if they stay in that position they will be promoted to the Premier League at the end of the season. On the face of it, they look to be significantly tougher opposition than Coventry were. Some might disagree, but in my opinion, Sheffield Utd at the moment are probably as good or possibly better than the bottom 3 or 4 teams in the Premier League. It'll be quite a test. But a cracking game at home.
