It appears that the AB's don't learn from their mistakes. Conor Murray, with the exact same dummy, sailed through the exact same gap in defence that the AB's left open against Ireland in Chicago, only this time it was Perenara rather than Smith who shoulders the blame. Nice one Murray!

Pretty sure it was Farrels cheeky off ball tackle that took TJ out of the play to set up Murray. Watch the replay. Great game.

Farrell had his leg for a second but Sexton pushed him towards the wing which left the gap for murray to pass through. Similar to what Devin Toner did for the Gary ringrose try against Australia.

Far too many penalties conceded! Could well have lost that match without NZ scoring a try (I'm looking at you Mako). On the plus side it was nice to see us actually convert our chances into tries rather than butchering them like the during the rest of the tour.

Huge Influence in beating the All Blacks twice within a year so I have to agree. Smith and Perenara are more flashy but Murray is more physical and better tactically. Like them all though and TJ is hard done by not starting at times imo

It seems that NZers think that every player who wares an all black jersey is the best in the world in their position. Simply not true. In the case of Murray, his game management, kicking, defence, unflappable calmness, power, passing, and most important, his consistency make him the best in my eyes.

Only strong communism can cure weak socialism. The Lions cannot win the 3rd test until Jeremy Corbyn conducts a purge of tour party members - then the result of the purge, the residue after it, will be an increase in the loyalty of workers who strive towards socialism, towards political consciousness, and towards the political struggle.

well done to NZ on helping to keep the future of the series alive; managed to give the lions one win anyways to emply some kind of competition between these two teams. Fair play to Sonny Bill for taking one for the series too..a guy who completely "forgot" he was playing union instead of league in the space of less than 5seconds prev from putting in a text book tackle around the hips.!!! the lions could easily get wiped out 3-0 here with a cricket score in each match but thats not exactly what the sponsors would like to see. A 3-0 drubbing would see Q's raised over the future of this particular tour.. with interest in the Lions as a concept Questioned. Too much money involved in this to see it binned. The marked difference between a seasoned 'team' and one flung together for a month, no matter how talented its parts in the current professional era would be automatically telling. All in all i feel sorry for the people who get sucked into the whole Lions concept and are pedalled as some fantasy of a competitive encounter, which A tour in New Zealand isnt to any degree anyways compared to Oz or Boks these days. 100% NZ win next days...put your house on it.

Get yourself a good kicker and maybe you will be able to beat us, not draw. NH is better than SH right now, England are on the same level as the All blacks, So are Ireland, Wales and Scotland have some of the best individual players in the world. Oh yeah and the way SA handled France was way better than how the ABs did last time they played france.

I'm still struggling to understand that last penalty. How is it tackling in the air off a pass? I've never seen that given in 20 years of watching rugby. Does it man that you just have to take a pass while jumping in the air and the defense can't touch you till you land? Can anyone clarify on that point?

I don't think that will be a problem as the risk of serious injury is too high. It would also be seen as bad sportsmanship and thankfully the rugby community still seems to frown on that sort of behaviour. I remember after the England Italy match in this years 6 Nations a lot of commentators were saying the 'No-ruck' tactic was going to spoil the game..... The rule could possibly be changed so that any 'unlucky' play like this results in a free kick instead of a penalty. Hard to enforce though and would result in a lot more subjective calls for the refs!

Dai Laughing I've seen it a few times and believe it's the correct thing to do for player safety! I have also taken a few high passes that required me to jump and my opposite man just smiled and absolutely cut me in half... I think that it what they are preventing from happening as it's dangerous. If people just start jumping for no reason they will get penalized for 'jumping a tackle'!!!

@brentmeistergeneral6074
@brentmeistergeneral6074 7 жыл бұрын
Ryan Durkin eh? Is this a wind up? Gatland has picked Liam Williams, a shit winger without any pace, ahead of Halfpenny! Hogg is ten times the player that Williams is. All the way during the last two six nations tournaments everyone had been certain Hogg was one of the first names on the team sheet for the lions, Halfpenny has done fuck all since the last Lions tour? Even then all he did was kick which cost us any actual attacking options outside! I have to be honest, I'm not entirely sure your not trolling right now! The 3 players I reckon were set in stone to start were Billy V, Farrell and Hogg! I'm convinced they all would have but for injury!

The god Mako simply held his line when he first collided with Barrett spilt seconds after he kicked (don't get me started on slow motion replied making takings look later and worse than they are) and second time I thought it was a totally legal clear out! Barrett should have conceded a pen for being on the wrong side of the ruck - only mistake the ref made!

The truthful and honest way in which to declare the result of this match is, a follows:- New Zealand (14) 21 - 24 The British and Irish Lions (15) NZ played 90% of the game being a man down (an over harsh decision by a referee). Even so, they kept their noses in front of a Lions side, until the very last moments of a gigantic game. If anyone truly believes the Lions would have won this test match, with an equal number players on either side - they are can only be living in cloud-cuckoo land.

75% actually, go study maths cos you NZ fans have been in "cloud-cuckoo land" for way too long. Point is, it was a fair match, the only reason it was 14 vs 15 was because a player from the All Blacks 15 didn't know how to tackle properly. Accept the truth and stop living in your fantasy. The rest of the world are on the same level as the All Blacks now and you all know it, you just won't accept it.

Where's the Gatland haters?
@andybud1983
@andybud1983 7 жыл бұрын
gatland is not very good. This lions squad is the best ever and his kick and chase tactics are rubbish. The lions would lose to England on their own because Gatland is not a good user of quality talent. Don't confuse the lions winning with a win for gatland tactics. New Zealand were a man down for half the game.

Nick you must be out of your mind if you think that winning by 3 points playing 14men for 60minutes is a great performance ,yes Williams deserved the yellow but I thought we would have taken our chances and really put NZ on the back door and make it easier for ourselves in the 3rd test but we won due to a doggy penalty ,come on the lions are meant to be tougher and yes happy we won but seriously could have easily won by at least 15 points to really build strong momentum

Indeed, a win it was, and congratulations to the Lions. You deserved it. It just wasn't convincing enough win, in the event, to persuade anybody, except maybe the most foolhardy, that this Lions team have what it takes to actually win a series here! Not even close!

mnnh1 And what exactly was it about NZ's performance that shows they're up for it. Kicking penalties? If that was us, we wouldn't hear the end of it in regards to how 'boring' and 'dull' Northern rugby is (it isn't by the way). And even in that department, Barrett was poor, missing pens. And then go back to the 1st Test. Yes, you guys were clinical, but the scoreboard flattered you. We basically handed you that 3rd try. Nothing exactly convincing from the ABs from that Test either overall. This ABs team is below your usual standards. Forget the Lions, even the ABs credentials on this tour are questionable. We were the better team today and deserved the victory.

John Lookman Clueless. The rugby NZ played in parts of the first test was some of the slickest and quickest I have seen. BIL have some amazing players and are doing a great effort but couldn't live with NZ in that first test which underlines how good NZ are. They could in the 2nd because they were a man up.

Well I don't see this as a cause for celebration, lions seemed to play better before sonny sent off, turned to absolute shit after that. played against 14 men for an hour and could barely scrape a win, would have been slaughtered if New Zealand had full team for the whole match. Warren Gatland is completely clueless, been shit for Wales for years and now dragging the lions down as well, no plan B when things are going wrong. Need to be so much better for next week, can they turn it around???

It looked like some of the team (Vunipola) were actively trying to make the Lions lose, it was bizarre. They should have played better after Sonny Bill got sent off, not worse!?

What a game from the Lions!!! Farrell played very well (I'm not a big fan of his, extremely overrated in my opinion still...but still give credit when credit is due). Sam Warburton had a blinder of a game!!! not turning it over but slowing it at the break down all night, he more than validated his selection. Good performance all round except from Mako Vunipola....which is unusual.

He can't be too bad if he's won back to back 6 nations, back to back European Cups, 3 Premiership finals, 2017 European player of the year, whitewash tour of Australia and now beaten the ABs in 2 of the 5 games he's played them. Oh and 2 (maybe 3, not sure) time world player of the year nominee.

T1000 Yes...but what is the common theme thou? he's a part of great teams...with fantastic forwards. Makes Fly half's look alot better than they actually are. For, example...you can't say his Kicking is world class can you, or in Defense!!! but like I said, credit where credit is due....he played very well today. 👌

Nada Barton his kicking and his defense are both world-class. He's also a very good decision maker. Sure he has good forwards, but he definitely should be given some credit - he knows how to win rugby games.

Nada Barton 159 penalties attempted for England, 129 scored. 411 penalties attempted for Saracens, 359 scored. His conversion statistics are even better by the way. I would put that right up there with the best. Out of hand, his tactical kicking is usually good even though it has been a bit off recently. You also have to remember that he is a 10 not a 12 so defensively (at 10 not 12) he is excellent. He is world class 👍🏻. Just saying 😉
