@@nblade66 Both companies have other partnerships and are working on their own tech but the agreement of them working together to possibly start robotaxi in China (2022 estimate) makes sense for both companies in the short term. They have not released any recent updates that I'm aware of...

Mobileye AV-map is not geofenced, it is updated automatically. It is not used for navigation, but cars update it with important data (Road geometry, Potholes, Traffic signs..) that are immediately available to other cars. This information gives the neural networks additional information in addition to the cameras and thus increases safety Tesla only uses cameras and neural networks and Mobileye cameras and neural networks but also data from this AV-map so it is logical that Mobileye has the better possibility to be safer

Interesting that the departure from Tesla was reported that Mobileye did not think camera only system was safe and lidar was also required, but here we are?

I think Mobileye thought that camera only system was safe, but having another independent lidar system for redundancy would make it even safer (i.e. Mobileye believes camera-only is enough; lidar is just for added safety). Meanwhile, Tesla wanted only the camera-only system

Why?? Tesla FSD does all of this but with higher confidence. This clip is a collection of very carefully picked fragments. Go look at the many Tesla FSD videos of full recorded trips.

@@RamonSmits Wouldn't necessarily say that Tesla FSD would do all this more confidently, but there was definitely nothing in that clip that it couldn't have done. All the while Tesla doesn't use maps like Mobileye.

@@entspannter_hase Tesla does use pretty detailed maps with most data used for driving pre-mapped. With confidence I mean these manoeuvres around parkers cars/trucks and evading bicyclists and pedestrians.

@@RamonSmits I'm not sure they're using it at the moment, as the map data doesn't appear on the screen when driving on FSD beta. Seems to be pure vision there.
