Great to see the Scarlets in the semi. Bit puzzled about the history comment considering they won the Pro 14 in 2017 and got to the final in 2018 as well as the Champions cup semi that year. Best of luck in the Challenge Cup from this Leinster fan

They won the league yes which meant they were in the Heineken cup not the challenge cup. Two different competitions in Europe. Heineken cup is the top tier and challenge cup is the 2nd tier.

The Scarlets have played some nice stuff at times this season so I’m glad they were able to do it in a big knockout game against a European giant. If they could win the challenge cup it would be a great achievement since the rest of welsh rugby has probably never been in such a tough place. I hope they do it.

What happened after the final whistle, you can hear Wayne Barnes say "Damian [Penaud] go away, Fritz [Lee] go away, Damian, GO AWAY." Worrying to hear that, seeming that it wouldn't be the first time Barnes has to be the victim of abuse, seem to remember a couple of years back he had to be escorted off the field. Surely there has to be a review on these things to see what happens, and sanction the players for misbehaviour (if that's the case).

The issue is the Scarlets 18 just laid in the ruck, completely sealing it off illegally. Barnes had no interest in it whatsoever. It's a penalty for sure.

It looks like they're complaining about the decision to award Scarletts a penalty at the end. If it was for side entry, which it looks like, then they have a point. But there's no point complaining about it, what's done is done.

Anti-french referring- even when very well done (Barnes more subtil than Brace)- really starts to be embarrassing for rugby. The key moment of the game is the scrum (30-22) where craftily the ref offers 3 points to scarlets for no reason, changing the end of the game. This is very well done. congrats.

Slimani changes his bind from the shirt to the arm with that penalty. You can overhear Barnes explaining it at 67:55 (game clock) on the full replay (it's temporarily available on youtube and S4C). It's one of those penalties that's subtle on the first watch, but suddenly becomes obvious on replay if someone points it out. I couldn't see it live (we were on the other side of the scrum), but the S4C commentators noticed it. The English commentators didn't notice it (quelle surprise). I don't have access to the French broadcast to see if they noticed it.

On the first Clermont try, there is a clear dellibery knock on by red taken offside by another red. So it should have been penality try and 2 yellow cards. Morover, the kicker missed the conversion... and Clermont lossed by 2 points.

The ref can award a penalty try for a penalty offence that prevents an almost certain try. The try was scored, so that's not an option. (That's setting aside that the ball hits Conbeer's hand before the 5m line and lands on the 5m line, so it's not even a knock on)

They were quite obviously very different situations. The yellow was for the second tackler on a player who was both dropping and had just been spun in the tackle, with less force. The red was for a direct shoulder by the first tackler into the head of a player who hadn't ducked or dropped at all.
