"DOES model" by Elaine N. Aron:
D - Depth of processing: we over-process and over-analyze everything and even ruminate on things, oftentimes subconsciously.
O - Overstimulation: we are overly responsive and absorbing to social stimulation. With an excessive amount of input, we often experience mental exhaustion.
E - Emotional responsiveness/Empathy: it was proven that HSP has more mirror neurons in our brain so we are very empathetic to people around us by mirroring their thoughts and feelings and attuning to others.
S - Sensitive to subtleties / Sensory stimuli: we are sensitive to lights, noises, flashes, strong or rough smells, and etc.
