I feel like Skoda's still easily one of the most underrated car brands, with the Superb arguably branching over into the premium segment. It's an imposing, elegant looking vehicle, with lots, and LOTS of space and a quality-made and looking/feeling interior. While it's not quite as playful interior-wise as its competition (namely MB and BMW), the exterior (imo) sticks out more than the comparable Audi A6, and definitely the A4 and 5 5-door version. The only thing holding the brand back, is the stigma it retained from its earlier days. But Skoda's making big strides into the right direction, and I've had people literally drop their jaws when they got into my 2016 Superb (or popped the trunk, and mind you, I have the sedan, not the estate!).

Had a 67 plate 190 diesel dsg version and i loved it. I had prev a BMW 320d and i can say the Skoda was miles ahead with almost every aspect. The beemur was really set for left hand drive and the conversion to our side left the peddles at a strange angle and the seating position was weird. Also the seats were thin and worst of all the rear seats did not fold down , WTF. The Superb solved all my probs and was a great car. Soo much so i now have the new Octavia 2021 VRS due to the brands reliability and my local dealer being really helpful. No brainer , stylish , great mpg and the best load lugger in the category

I’ve just bought the 2016 hatch diesel 2L in L&K trim. Lovely car to drive, I’m 77 and my wife has ms so I keep it in comfort mode . I had an A6 Avant until last year, but thought I should come down in size and Got merc. estate , I hated the controls, and that it always seemed to think about accelerating from standstill. Or the internal space. I went back to Audi but the A4 , once again I felt cramped inside. After some research and reading owner’s reviews I decided on the superb hatchback (I fancied the estate but was doubtful about 4wheel drive) I love the Superb , it’s such a pleasure to drive and support everything I reviewers have said about them !

Got a real soft spot for these, think they look fantastic and it is incredible to think how far Skoda has come in a relatively short space of time - would happily own one if it was not for them sharing the VAG engines, no faith in them. But it is a damned handsome car and the boot space is incredible (even for a large estate car). The Superb saloon is also a very good looking car.

I've hired low mileage 2.0d Superbs a few times in the past 4 years. Very good build quality; low cabin noise; plenty quick; don't feel big when you're driving or parallel parking them. Most of those trips were leaving Prague and galloping on the German autobahns where good brakes are more important that fast acceleration. Its brakes are up to the task. It will happily cruise at 180kph all day and return ≤5.5L / 100km. "Skoda" means "pity" in Czech ( as in "it's a pity" ), but Czechs love them, and the Superb has plenty of cache. My current car 8s a tram, but if I need 4 wheels, I hire a Superb. They're .., excellent !

I bought a 2017 SE-L executive last year, £12k with 60,000 on the clock. It's absolutely excellent, in petrol blue with a cream interior, I think it's a really classy car. It's surprisingly close to E Class, 5 series or A6 in terms of quality, for way less money. Couldn't recommend them highly enough, it's a perfect family car, with acres of space; legroom is ridiculous, I'm 6 foot 5 and I can fit comfortably in the back, even with the drivers seat set for me. If they're still making them in 5 years of so (probably in electric form) I could see it being replaced by another.

Superb was the practical choice I ended up deciding against, but they're properly sorted. I know people say a 5 series is all the car you'd ever need, but so is a Superb but for half the money. I went for a Peugeot 508SW because Superbs are absolutely everywhere, and compromising on space was worth it for something more interesting - but I can't see anyone ever regretting a Superb.

100%. I think that 5 Series thing is total horseshit (as in people saying it's the only car you'll need). They're so overpriced and the reliability is questionable. I was loaned one recently as a cover car and the brakes had gone at 1500 miles because someone had 'pushed the pedal too hard.' Skodas are the way to go for this stuff.

I own a Mk3 estate in Spotline edition in the top specs available with 2.0TSI (206kw) 4x4 DSG for a year now and I am glad I went with this instead of planned Audi A6. I love the design, sound and comfort I got for, kinda, good price.

The mk1 looks like a Chinese Passat because that’s literally what it is. They originally made a stretch Passat for the Chinese market, and someone realized they could bring it home and glue a Skoda badge to it. I took a TDI190 4x4 DSG hatchback for a spin recently and found myself disappointed by the engine. My own car is an Insignia 4x4 diesel auto with 195 hp but it’s also heavier, so I expected more from the Skoda. The AWD system is Haldex btw which I guess is “quattro” because it’s what Audi uses in the A3 among others. It’s also what’s in my Insignia.

I've got a Mk2 Superb and honestly it's the best, most versatile and reliable car I've owned in over 20 years of driving. I'm looking for a Mk3 DSG and I learnt the road tax change from your video so thanks for that and the video in general

Totally agree about not feeling a big car apart from length when parking! We went mad and had the 280bhp L&K estate. It was a lovely car. One thing though, cars get to a certain size and bulk where an automatic is far preferable (to me anyway) with automatic rather than manual transmission?

My dad, as a company car driver, is now on his 2nd Superb. He chose it over the likes of 5 series, A6 and E class- the top spec Skoda was/is a better all around car for the price. See past the badge and it’s an excellent machine, despite the dip in street cred ;)

Got one today. Compare running costs of 1.5tsi and 1.9 TDI based on my 15k miles per year. Went for petrol as only marginally higher fuel cost, but no concerns about DPFs and EGRs. Ride is excellent, smooth, quiet and relaxing. As he said, 'why buy anything else'. Avoided DSG for fear of huge bills in the future. Based on one day of use I would recommend you at least try one before buying something else. Amazing value for money, if badges are not important to you.

I have a 2.0 Diesel Superb 6speed manual from the company as well, when the lease is over I'll buy it privately since it is such a good car. At the moment it has 73.000km's in 2,5 years. Perfect for long trips/long travels for weeks.
