My single photos do very well with my audience. It does better than my reels. My reels appeal to people who don't follow me. My analytics show my followers like my single photos

Interesting - then definitely lean into that. That's not super typical but if it's working for you there's no reason to stop doing it. Reels should bring you new eyeballs while you engage your existing audience with your single posts - C

Today I noticed a change to the carousel layout. Seamless posts (especially two photos creating a landscape shot) do not seem possible anymore, each image has black defining edges. I checked my other account and the layout appeared normal. Perhaps something Instagram is testing? Any Insight on this?

Interesting - that sounds like they're definitely testing some new formatting on that account, especially if your other account doesn't have the black edges. There's not much you can do until it either gets implemented everywhere or is removed, so sit tight and perhaps even try to login from another device to see if the same thing pops up - C

I need help in stopping instagram from pushing my content to a completely different target audience from what my content is for. I have had this problem for a while and it is super frustrating that I’m getting more followers from the unwanted demographic which keeps feeding the algorithm to push my content to same unwanted demographic and never end this terrible cycle. I would truly appreciate some tips on how to fix this. Thank you

Hi Laila, the only way to change that is to get more people in your target market to engage with your content, so that they share it to people with similar interests/who align. The easiest way to do that is to run ads that aim at your target audience, and when you generate a lot of engagement, it should start to slowly change things. Aside from just getting the right audience to engage with your content, there's no other way that I can think of to change who it gets served to - C

I'm a bit confused how carosel posts will show as a reel how do you make it happen? I also have 2 accounts one I can add up to 15 photos in a carousel the other I am still at 10.

Hi, so carousel posts with music can potentially show up in both the Explore page and Reels tab. If you want to make a Reel with images, you can just add images instead of videos when you create your Reel. Sounds like the second account doesn't have the 20 post option rolled out as yet, sit tight, hopefully won't be long! - C

Another awesome video! If I may ask, what is the very first step you'd recommend in order to gain followers for a business? I have everything written down. "Make less single "photos," more carousels and Reels, engage , add music, invest in advertising," etc. I barely know the difference between reels and carousels. All of this information is great, however It has my head spinning lol. I dont know where to start. Thanks!

Looking into using IG Ads to help with my specific target reach and encourage sign ups for a nationwide Wedding Bouquet tour that I have coming up in 2025. Do you recommend that I target each city with it's own ad or do I lump all of the cities together and target all of them collectively in a single ad campaign?

Great question! You’d want to test a few variations of your ads, and then lean into what performs best. Would definitely recommend testing independent ads for each city that specifically calls out the place (e.g. “Hey Nashville Wedding Planners!) hyper-specific ads generally tend to perform well because the creative is really targeted. But you could also test promoting nationwide langage as well and see what is getting you the most conversions. Hope that helps! - T

Promoting reels is a great way to guarantee your content gets visibility (recommend doing this in ads manager so you can narrow down your audience). You really just want to make sure the content represents what you'll continue to share, and really speaks to the audience you want. And of course quality is key. Reels is still the content that gives the most opportunities for discovery, but *technically* carousels get more engagement on average. I'd recommend you balance the two (perhaps giving more priority to reels if that works for you) but most importantly focus producing content your audience is looking for and sharing it consistently. - T
