Kiva Koffe House is awesome. Great coffee, delicious muffins and nice books to browse through. And the best view in Universe.

This was shot using a GoPro Hero 3 Black and was some of the first on car footage I shot. The Hero 3 is not bad but the lens is too wide resulting in image distortion and you can hardly avoid getting the Sun in the FOV if you are pointed towards it at all.

Thanks so much for posting this. It’s really helped me to determine how I’d handle the Hogsback on Hwy 12 from Zion to Bryce, as I have a crippling fear of heights, lol. I’m usually ok with them as long there aren’t straight drop offs on both sides; however, this doesn’t look bad at all. (Got some vertigo on the Hwy 1 drive on the California coast from San Francisco to Big Sur, but got over it.) Folks said the Hogsback is terrifying, but I’m not seeing that. I think I’ll drive and let my husband take photos and set the GoPro on the car roof. Also, the mention of Kiva coffee house was great. Will be sure to stop there! Thanks again.

Yeah, I'm not too good with heights either so I'll never do the Angles Landing hike in Zion, but there's no place on this route that bothers me at all.
@kristiecain32424 жыл бұрын
@@Raptorman0909 uughhh... Angel’s Landing. No kidding. I get nauseous just watching people climb it here on KZbin. Have you seen the folks taking their tiny children up on it?? It’s insane.

it is absolutely terrifying but the most beautiful thing I've ever seen We ended up on this stretch by accident in a 33 foot RV pulling a trailer and I have NEVER been so terrified in all my life LOL But I'm glad we seen it now

Thanks! This east-coaster is heading out in the fall. Old as I am, I've never been to Utah, AZ, Southern Utah National Parks- looking forward to it. Will be stopping at Kiva Coffee on our way to Moab from Panguitch. All the best on your travels!

When do you plan to make the trip -- as I mentioned in the video the summers are pretty hot with many days over 100F at the lower elevations and cooler the higher you go. I now live in Utah and have for a decade, but I grew up in upstate NY and my first trip through Utah was in 2004. I fell in love with the place and have been here since 2006. There's much to see in Utah and you may wish to check out some of my other videos for some ideas...

I try to spend what I have with the local, independent people to the greatest extent possible. There’s not much else to eek a living out of in these beautiful places, most land is public, and the climate is arid. They depend on what we leave with them as we pass through admiring the scenery, and they provide a very valuable service as well. I leave all I can and try to spread it around, what little I have.
@Raptorman09095 жыл бұрын
Yeah, exactly -- if you got to eat why not keep the local small businesses in business. It's not like your dropping money in a tin cup to someone looking for a handout and as you say, they provide a service that makes visiting these places more enjoyable.

Thanks for the tour. I am trying to find a road out west on which to bike. My concern is the narrow or non existent shoulder. The plus appears to be a light traffic on the road. I live in New Hampshire.
@Raptorman09096 жыл бұрын
Dave, the road is no problem for a biker -- I've ridden my bike over it without a problem. If you're coming from New Hampshire are you planning to ride all the way or perhaps trailer the bike behind a pickup or motorhome? There are so many great places to ride out here and it really depends on how far you want to ride. Maybe hit Sturgis in August, then Yellowstone. Southern Utah is amazing with Moab being a good place to stay and then do day rides. Another great place is Kanab Utah in the southwest of the state. Years ago I was riding along US-89A and stopped on a climb overlooking the Vermillion Cliffs. I got off the bike and there was a group of about 30 other bikers also there and as I setup to take some pics I noticed they were all speaking French. So, I go over and ask them where they're from and, sure enough, they are all friends from France and had been planning the trip for a few years. Just a bunch of friends from France, riding the American west, on Harley's and loving every second of it. You may wish to check out some of my other videos on my channel including a bunch of drone videos of the west.

Cutting across the double yellow line like that, you are lucky that there were no large trucks coming the other direction. Or a sport bike having fun on the great road. Very bad driving habit.

@@boowakinwaa Ridiculous comment. That road is fine. Very very few corners which do not have a good look through. Nothing wrong with his driving habits.

Raptorman, may i ask you which Custom Settings you use on your Inspire 1 Pro? DLog or DCinelike?
@Raptorman09098 жыл бұрын
The camera used in this video was a GoPro Hero 3 Black. I've used D-log with the Inspire 1 Pro in the past but I will probably dig a bit deeper and check out the other profiles like D-Cinelike. I should do an AB comparison using the two profiles.

Low traffic volume? Only a few hundred cars a day? Not any more.
@Raptorman09094 жыл бұрын
Well the data is no doubt averaged over the year so during peak periods it is likely to be higher than that.

@@Raptorman0909 I have been going up and over boulder mountain to Escalante for almost 50 years. I remember the days when it was not paved. I once stayed at the Oak Creek Camp site on a Memorial Day weekend back in 1981. We were the only ones there. Ever since the road was paved, it has become RV central. Today I have shifted my camping trips to the boulder top region up around 11000 feet. The roads are rough enough that the RV crowd doesn't go up there. I really miss the Utah of the past.
