yes 😂 it looks like it caught 3rd instead of 2nd when I floored it

I was considering getting one of these but my mountaineer with the 4.0 v6 can accelerate faster and with how fast people drive in mass I need all the merging power I can get 😂

@@zachgiacalone3445 so long as it catches 2nd or even if you’re starting at 45-50 mph it will do a decent job of getting up to speed. I’ve driven 4.0L Explorer/Mountaineer and while on paper it makes slightly more power and has an extra gear in the trans, it’s not any better than an XJ. This video isn’t the best representation, this was one basically 5 cylinders and the trans was tired. Plus they’re not meant to be floored as their very stout, low revving, torquey motors. What they lack in higher rev/highway acceleration it makes up for in off the line acceleration and off road capability. Jeep 4.0s have a huge following and I promise there’s a reason why! I’m not an Explorer hater by any means, I love them both but Explorer is always 2nd to the XJ for me. Check out the V8 one I have on my channel- pretty quick!

@@2JZBobby Yea your probably right. I did a 35-75 in my mountaineer and it was only like a second faster. The V8 explorer is definitely faster than both of these cars but the Mountaineer and XJ both have decent acceleration for what they are and definitely have enough power to keep up with traffic on the highway. I still want to own an XJ because of how iconic they are. The in-line 6 in the Cherokee is definitely more reliable than the V6 in the Mountaineer. I’m considering getting an older Cherokee or a WJ grand Cherokee with the inline 6 because I’ve had my mountaineer for a while and want to get into something different.
