There is 2 kinds of HWP here in Vic, ones like these & power tripping F Sticks!

I've found (being a truck driver) that if you start out the police interaction being a hard nose, they will be even more hard nosed back. But they have a job to do, and if you treat them with courtesy, they will do the same. Good to see you doing the right thing by the learner, nice. I subbed too.
@gutterrashrides Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately highway patrol are known for being fairly unreasonable and aggressive regardless of how courteous you are to them (which is why I mentioned they've earned a bad rap). That's why I thanked her for being so lovely haha, I expected a not so nice interaction even though I was polite and didn't do anything unreasonable. Thanks for the sub!

After their performance over the covid bullshit, no currently uniformed cop that was in uniform during covid deserves respect. If you have 10 good cops, and 5 bad cops, but the 10 don’t do anything about the 5, you have 15 bad cops.

I had the pleasure of working with a former inspector, a while ago. He said that with any interaction with police, if you pass the attitude test, you are much more likely to enjoy a favourable outcome.

They were only being friendly because that is a better way of getting information out of them so they could find something to knock them off for. Ignorance is bliss, wake up to yourself.

This is a perfect example of how to ride with others, how to interact with police and how to enjoy a good day out. It's an excellent example of good police work, as well. You're an excellent ambassador for the hobby. Keep it up.
@Fullnoise8 ай бұрын
You're kidding, right? The best way to interact with police is to be polite, answer only the legally required questions, which would be when they ask you to state your name and address and say nothing else. You have a legal right to silence, smart people use that right. The dumbest thing you can do is to get into a "friendly" conversation with them. Police are not your friends, they are there for the government's benefit, not yours.

Always good to see a cordial interaction with HWP. I'm in North Central Vic & never had an issue with them tbh, though I do ride fairly casual & stick within the limits so i suppose that's no surprise. Don't get me wrong I like to give it a squirt every now & then but I'm very selective about when & where & like to reserve such moments to quiet back roads where there's minimal risk & no traffic around.
@mikeadz1 Жыл бұрын
I was definitely like that (mindset towards hwp) until, like you I happened to give it a squirt at a bad time, got caught. (Not even a ridiculous amount over) and as pleasant and compliant as I was it just means nothing to some of them. Copped a fat fine. Can’t say I’m a fan of them tbh, I’m all for them doing their job but a situation like mine honestly checked every box for warning territory, kinda frustrating. Especially knowing people get off doing a lot worse.
@Eye_of_Samadhi Жыл бұрын
In truth I'm not a fan either which is why I appreciate the cordial interaction. Experience has taught me they're unpredictable in their demeanor & can dish some real attitude sometimes even if you've done nothing wrong. I've many a story both good & bad when I was hooning around in my younger years. Given a break when I least expected it & had the book thrown at me when I expected a break, lol. Nowadays prefer to avoid an interaction as much as possible which is why I'm so selective about when & where I'll give it a squirt cause I just can't be bothered with it tbh. Older now so want to be left the hell alone to do my thing & chill, not hassled by big daddy government over my riding.

@@mikeadz1My original comment was directed towards my current riding style btw, saying that I've never had a problem. Yes when I was younger it was different, as I stated I experienced a mixed bag, some with attitude some not.

Absolutely love it, I prefer the treat others as i wish to be treated approach, which typically works extremely well. To the point i went to the cbd yesterday and someone even left a valid parking meter ticket in the machine, i was only there for 15 mins and it still had over an hour left so hopefully some others got some use from it too after i put it back in the machine for the next lucky person, it is always the little wins that are so significant 🙏💖 Your vids inspired me to record my first ever ride on the road yesterday (still have to upload), I've been itching to get a bike and ride for weeks since i did my ridersafe, there are really no words to describe that first ride but everyone who has ridden on the road would remember that feeling of omg this is incredible, while simultaneously feeling omg this is terrifying! (Def dont recommend looking down at speed haha)

Ah what a wholesome experience! You're so right about that first ride 😆 I was doing 40kph down my street and felt like I was time warping, the adrenaline is intoxicating. And thanks for the kind words, lovely to hear you were encouraged to record your own!

@gutterrashrides249 my pleasure! Haha it seriously feels like ur hitting the sound barrier due to so many senses we arent used to, it was somewhat similar to skydiving but different! Not going to disagree with the officer about the pressure in group rides. It all depends on the group though; some are more beginner friendly than others - and I can't say I've had a group I've ridden with here where that pressure has been there. 100% on a lot of fatalities this year. Ride safe!

I don’t mean to be rude at all but you didn’t know that people flashing their lights means there’s something up ahead (cops, crash etc) and you need to be extra cautious Did you just think they personally wanted you to slow down because you’re on a bike?
@bacevs9 ай бұрын
Did you not watch the video? Generally, yes, it means there's either a cop ahead or a hazard. However, some people flash their lights at bikers just to get them to slow down. In the video, he passed more cars that didn't flash their lights at him, so he thought that the cop was gone already or that they were just flashing to make him slow down.

You talk too much. If you didn't do anything wrong, give them your licence, tell them your address if they ask and leave it at that. Do not get into a conversation with them, regardless of how friendly they appear. They stopped the other bike, not you so you were under no obligation to even stop unless they directed you to.
