@@alex_zetsu as a newer anime fan, I'm glad I found higurashi through mario the music box 1-2 years ago and not gou last october. gou was pretty mediocre, and there were already enough ways to put the pieces together that umineko is connected to higurashi. the visual novels (which I'm currently reading watanagashi) is so much better than the deen adaptation. same goes for umineko, although I've only read the manga, and I bet the vn is twice as good as the manga. i would have been watching weekly pokemon journeys and my hero academia without mario the music box. now i check out anything that looks good, so far, inuyasha, akatsuki no yona, gosick, the fate franchise, muv-luv alternative (anime), and elfen lied (manga). Thanks Ryukishi, you got me addicted to visual novels.

Fun fact for those who don't know - at 3:17 you can hear the phrase "nigerarenainda" (逃げられないんだ = there's no escape), which is just the mysterious chant "hanni hara hare hi" at the beggining of the 1st opening listened in reverse :)

I think there's a lot of backmasking in Eiko Shimamiya's music. I always thought everyone could auto hear it, but I've learned not. It's a shame she's not still around to produce more, really. I loved the complexity and way minor melodies switch and harmonize. This was an excellent cover 👌

Yes and no. They have to be similar enough to convey the same feelings. If i listen to remakes and remixes of songs i love they can still feel out of place if the voice seems unfitting.

i don't know if anyone mentioned it before, but I love how the last 8 images reflect their respective chapters. Chapter 1 - our introduction to Keiichi. Chapter 2 - Shion's introduction as Mion's surpise twin sister. Chapter 3 - Keiichi protecting Satoko. Chapter 4 - Rika's first meeting with Akasaka at the bus stop. Chapter 5 - Shion and Satoshi's tragic relationship. Chapter 6 - Keiichi and Rena's fight on top of the school. Chapter 7 - Rika learning that fate can be broken by Keiichi. And finally Chapter 8 - Everyone get's a happy ending. Absolutely incredible

@@hanasong364 If you are referring to Saikoroshi, it's more of a short epilogue, hence why it's not called Chapter 9. I mean don't get me wrong, I love it, Higurashi is literally my most favorite series ever, specifically the VN is. But, for me at least, Chapter 8 is the perfect ending and everything else is just cool fan service with a few exceptions

@@hanasong364 Gou and Sotsu (parts 1 and 2 of the new series) are exceptions though for the worst. Tbh I kinda hate them, especially Sotsu for what they did to Higurashi. By sidelining important characters, going against the themes of the og, the character assassination of one of my favorite characters and the most unnecessary redemption arc in all of anime. They kind of fail as a concept too because Higurashi had an ending, one of the very best I've seen for any piece of fiction. So trying to make a sequel just doesn't work because it ended. The sad thing is it has some genuinely good scenes, all the ops and eds are amazing, the ed for the latter half of Gou might actually be my favorite ed in all of anime, and the Animation completely stomps Deen's work on og Higurashi in terms of quality. But overall, it's just a mess and it makes me depressed to remember it exists. At the very least it's better than Umineko's anime, but that's not really saying much.

KAI was good till the "Home Alone Victory" with zero casualties which considering all the pain, death and suffering the crew experienced felt cheap and forced (unless Featherine deliberately let them win) and the only way that could realistically happen in my mind is like in GOU; Takano has to switch sides then set the Mountain Dogs up to be ambushed. I also didn't like SOTSU's ending which has also been compared uncharitably to the "Congratulations" Ending of Evangelion, I don't think it's quite that bad and I liked it a Tiny bit better then KAI (not saying much) but at least we got a Tiny number of answers out of it; LambaDelta Murdering Satoko was a genuine surprise and Hanyuu and Featherine being definitively confirmed as two distinctly separate yet connected entities was nice. But there should have Been MORE; SO many threads left dangling, the Hanyuu/Featherine fight was Way too short, Hell putting in some appropriate Umineko music (like Lastendconductor or such) for the "DBZ" fight with Rika and Satoko would have SINGLE Handedly saved it. But perhaps we expected too much from a 25 person studio like Passione which clearly ran out of money at some point (as evidenced by blatant animation copy pasting and only 15 episodes).

I didn't want to put this in right away because I felt that my judgement might have been a little off since this was brand new and new stuff is always lots of fun. However, I think that after a few months and easily over 100 listens, I can safely say that this is my favorite song that you've ever done (and that's a high freaking bar). I've missed too much of your stuff over the last bit, doing to much but im glad its still here for me to catch now, this was my favorite opening from higurashi as much as i love the first opening creepiness mystery vibe, this has the creepiness, but also adds it the solemnness that rika is going through being the only one to remember anything after each reset that she truly is in her own personnel hell, but there is a chance for hope with it as well and will break away to not bloom like flower in hell, god i love good lyrical narratives

I agree. It has a melancholy feeling and lil bit of the same eerie vibe but its that bright sense of hope that sells the song for me. I'm always a sucker for dark depressing stories that is about fighting for a better ending and the hope that will to fight brings. Which Higurashi is very much about.

Love the cover, Higurashi is one of the best horror animes I have ever watched at 13. Despite Kai being majorly depressing for me to watch, I still enjoyed every bit of the show as a whole and I especially loved how the club members are there for each other through thick and thin. This is what I could consider power of true friendship, trully amazing!! PS: Rena, never change!!
