I remember at a siding at Ealing Broadway a CO/CP train was left there for a few years , very sad indeed , but fantastic memories of these trains from my childhood 👍

The main thing that interests me about these films from the past, is how one would watch them back in the day without the presence of many electronic devices let alone the internet...

Absolutely. Regards Richard .

7:08 "nothing has changed at the end of the line" well, apart from electrification, the new trains and the demolition of the sizeable goods yard 🤣🤣🤣

I love the few short seconds of the N2 coming out of the tunnel at KX Platform 14. I didn't think any film of that existed! Many thanks.

I've had this video when I was really young. I remember my family saying that this was played constantly over and over again and they got sick of it. XD I still have my tape and wanted to rip it onto a DVD at some point. For now, I thank you for uploading this so I can relive the old memories.

Sad to see some of the iconic old trains all vandalised and neglected. I recall seeing in the mid 80's some sad-looking CO/CP stock at Ealing Common Depot. This old stock, and the others from the New Works Programme, were a really a lovely design, industrial design at its best. Bring back the R stock, etc, Please ! Wish LT had kept working examples of these old units, the "C 08" cars should've been retained as heritage trains with a C69/77 set. If New York Transit can do this sort of thing, we should be able to too. Too many EMU classes have been sent to oblivion. Liked and subbed :-)

Ally Pally to Finsbury Park used to walk this line as kids. Archway (Highgate) was the old terminal for Northern line, trains could run up to Highgate depot though access joined in the tunnel between Highgate high level and Highgate woods. Empty stock was moved on this line by battery locos (from Drayton Park) until early 70`s.

I believe some old stock can be seen in the Isle of Wight, the Piccadilly line still uses 1978 cars..

Wonderful docuhistory! I remember the drain very well and worked on the 92TS in Derby. The one's for the W&C Line where originally painted in Central Line colours, but BR insisted on having them repainted to their colour scheme before they left the factory. Six months after they were craned in (hoist redundant by then?) the Central Line took over the W&C Line!

The trick on the Tube is to make sure you're going the right way by checking northbound or southbound on the route maps. Morden or Edgware was my fave.

I enjoyed the video. However the Victoria line did not open in 1967. I was on the first train on Sunday 1st September 1969 from Walthamstow Central to Highbury!

Angel when it was an island platform before it was rebuilt to single platforms. Now only Clapham Common and North stations have island platforms.

It depends if you consider the District and H&C Line platforms at Mile End to be island platforms.

I have this exact video on dvd but although the video remains the same throughout, the commentary is different when it comes to talking about the Central Line through Epping and Ongar and also the disused stations on the Northern Line.

Some of the 1972mk2s were on the Northern line to cover the spare 1959s that went to cover on the Bakerloo line temporarily.

As an extra, the company also did a video on the Liverpool Overhead, which I had,but no longer. It was a rather well done video on another long gone operation! On Line, did rather well with some real vintage films! Thanks for reviving some memories from Britain, from an railfan American!

@Joe Schmo Not new trains I meant like the unique prototype trains like the 1973 tube stock with marron doors and the A & C stock prototypes.
