I can't believe there are only 2 episodes left! 😪 Nooooo. Extreme RVers get to drink authentic glacier water. 💕💕 This looked truly amazing and definitely worth the drive. 👍 Not sure I would've made it as far out on that bridge as you did. Kudos. I know what the fear of heights does to you in places like that even when you want to see the spectacular views. 👍 Thanks for taking us along. ❣ -Aimee

I know! 😢 The summer there really flew by. But don't worry... We have lots more fun and beautiful places up our sleeves. The next month of episodes will be great! And yes! That bridge was intense. 😆 I was VERY happy to be back on solid ground! -Katelyn

Do they still have the original tram pulley system to show what you had to do to cross the river before the catwalk? I did that. Thought I was going to die. And the glaciers hike with my cancer ridden sister in law and 60 year old mom was interesting! Anyone can do it.

Katelyn I applaud you for conquering your fear of heights, even momentarily, to walk across that footbridge, I don’t think my Tom would have been as successful talking me into it as Howard was with you. The footage of your glacier tour was amazing, loved it, thanks for sharing the tour!!

we just did the trip in a rented class C rv. I found that I had to find the sweet spot for speed. too slow and the washboard road will eat your lunch with rattling your rig to pieces. too fast and it will bounce you into the ditch. I found about 35mph as the right speed but frequently had to slam on the brakes before hitting a huge pothole. luckily no flat tires

I would of liked to see more on McCarthy like what happened to Neal and much more. I drove all the way to the Canadian border to do my Alaskan Highway trip only to get turned down at the Border August 11th they pushed the opening back to September 21st. I had to head back to Florida.

The footbridge used to be a very sketchy basket with a pulley system only you and the manual pulley guy could fit in a few feet over a raging river. That catwalk looks easy. 👏

I've watched a few of your videos, the info is great, camera work is awesome. Dogs are really crazy bunch! At 75 I've always wanted to go, but I just retired a little over a year ago and my knees and bad back would be a detriment. But love watching your adventures! Stay safe. ---- I've been taking a geology course for fun, have learned without it, looking at scenery is not the same. HINT: watch Nick Zenter videos, teacher at Central Washington Univ., He has tons on every subject! It'll make what you see much more interesting.

You have a toad, don't you? Did you bring it on the McCarthy Rd? I couldn't tell. We are trying to decide if whether to do the McCarthy Rd next year with our toad and/or our Tiffin Wayfarer which is similar to your Navion.
@NewstateNomads2 жыл бұрын
Steve, we DID tow our toad in 2021 to camp in McCarthy, but actually camped at the fish camp at the start of the road in 2019 (drove our toad in). Point is, totally up to you, no bad choices. Both times, the road conditions were rougher, but not anything worse than forestry roads in the Lower 48. If you haven't already grabbed a copy of our travel guide and interactive map (150+ campsites, activities, dining, fuel), there's a section about the roads and what to avoid up in Alaska. 👍 -Howard www.newstatenomads.com/rvalaska

OMG! My stomach was up in my throat watching you cross that walking bridge. I am deathly afraid of heights! One time disembarking a cruise ship, I literally froze halfway down the wobbly rope and wood walkway, going down to the tender. People started yelling for me to move, and I tell you, I don’t remember HOW I got down OR back up again! Think I blocked it from my memory…. You are soooo lucky to experience Alaska for a second time. We hope to do the same sometime before I die! I really look forward to your videos, as you’ve got some of the best quality and FUN videos on KZbin. If I don’t make it somewhere I want, I can always check-out Howard and Katelyn’s videos! Many thanks again for all your efforts!
