Marion, we're so glad you're along for the journey with us! Liard sounds like a fantastic place to celebrate your birthday. Katelyn got to celebrate hers in Prince George, BC (in 2019) and then Homer, AK this year. It's fun to celebrate milestones while exploring! 👍 -Howard

We drove the Alcan several years ago in my dad's LTD. In June. Unpaved. 1500 miles of gravel. Coming back it rained so much that they closed the highway at Liard Hot Springs. We stayed at the campground. One lady had a parrot. Another baked bread for everyone. We ended up driving back to Whitehorse and taking another unpaved logging road south through British Columbia. It was an adventure. Pretty much destroyed my dad's LTD.
@NewstateNomads3 жыл бұрын
Diego, it looks like the last of the Alcan was paved in 1992 so this might qualify as more than "several" years ago, haha! LOVE the story about the parrot at Liard, and totally agree on the unique people you meet driving the Alcan. 👍 -Howard

Howard. It was sensory overload. Everything was so beautiful. My dad was real chatty. One of those in the campground. The woman bread baker spoke Russian. My dad was more afraid of the moose than the Grizzlies. The little grocery store ran out of supplies. They brought in more by helicopter.

Oooooooooohhhhh! I’m so jealous! No really, I’m super excited for you that you’re able to travel to and experience these places while you are able….financially secure enough and young enough to take those long hikes, traveling to very high elevations, experiencing new things, etc. Katelyn!…..honey, thank you so much for your sweet, always-smiling, pretty face. It’s such a pleasure seeing you and Howard enjoying yourselves, and cheering-up my days too. I sooooo want to take our Navion “Lucy” on the Alcan Highway. We took our very first RV (Chevy Cheyenne 4WD pick-up with a shell on it) up into B.C. and Alberta, way back in ‘78 or ‘79. It was stunningly gorgeous there. Anyway, I always look forward to Sundays to see what kind of mischief you’ve gotten into…thank you, as-always, and please be careful! ❤️Virginia❤️

I really liked the hot springs,I would want to stay there all day,but only if it’s not crowded.The Bison are stunning and so beautiful. I’m using that word a lot lately..haha. I am so happy and grateful we have them once again,and we must always protect them. The beavers dens were very impressive,3 tier!! They are amazing creatures aren’t they. We have some here at home,nobody bothers them,and let’s them build their homes,as it should be. Congratulations on your certificate!! Well deserved. See you soon,take care ❤️

Fantastic episode Katelyn and Howard! I thoroughly enjoyed your series of videos in Alaska. I really hope I can see Alaska in person one day. Welcome back to Canada and I’m glad you will be able to travel freely and take time to see this awesome country this time. There are some issues with the virus still of course and unfortunately here in Alberta we are having high numbers of the 4th wave. So there are restrictions in place, but they are manageable with being vaccinated and masking of course. I know you are usually posting these episodes after you’ve been to the location already. But I want to wish you the best as you travel through Alberta, being it’s your first visit to this province, and if one of your stops is the Edmonton area please enjoy as that’s where I’m located. Looking forward to more wonderful adventures as you travel Canada. Peace and Calm. 👍🏻😎🇨🇦

Question: Where did you boondock along Liard River between Fort Nelson and Watson Lake or near Watson Lake? Was it posted okay to camp over night? We are planning trip for 2022 and we have 36' Motorhome. I couldn’t find any information on which pull-outs/rest areas can be used for boondocking (but did find this in The MILEPOST: “Overnighting in rest areas and turnouts may be unsafe and is illegal unless otherwise posted.”). I recall seeing some that specifically said “no overnight camping” within the Milepost. Love the videos' by the way!!!
