Hi Kraig! I recently started hiking alone too as most of my friends are not really into hiking or don't have enough spare time to go on hikes with me. You inspired me to try it out and it is absoluetely fantastic. I actually prefer hiking/trail running without any people around me because it really gets you into thinking and enjoying the peacefulness of the mountains and hills. It lets you come to balance with nature and yourself. I'd encourage everyone who is a bit hasitant to go on their own to just try it out and experience the soothing sensation of hiking alone! Best, Thomas

You could spend an entire year in the Adirondacks doing every type of hike imaginable- and have unique content for each one. I have lived here my whole life, and have no problem finding a new spot to visit every weekend. =) The Adirondacks is an incredibly special place. We are so fortunate to have it.

I hike the Adirondacks frequently. It’s absolutely beautiful here. I live in upstate New York so it’s in my back yard. 💝🤔💝 My hubs n I grew up going to Schroon Lake. His family owned a campground there so we experienced it year round. He actually graduated high school there. We take our dogs with us on every adventure. Life is good. 💝🌍💝 Thank you for sharing your fabulous adventures with us.

Fantastic! I love your talking head portions that explain so much in such a small window of time. I could tell this was a more challenging hike due to the weather and the denser vegetation, and it’s perhaps a bit more claustrophobic than I prefer in my own hiking experiences, but that’s the beauty of experiencing it through your well adjusted lenses. Loving the ambience you create in these videos, with your consistently deep dedication to getting those shots, the overall minimalist design, and the accompaniment of ethereal music pieces. I’d be interested in either an original score or a fully ambient captures track. I know you can pull off either one. More, please! Can’t wait to see what you tackle next, and as always, stay safe out there.

Wow, amazing -- this hike, exactly, was the first solo backpack that I did back when I was 16 (I'm 62 now and still an outdoor fanatic). I remember I rode up on the bus (from Schenectady), intending to start and stop the hike from Lake Placid (do a loop hike into the high peaks area)... but on the bus ride, I met a girl that knew the area well, and she suggested that I get off early at Keene Valley and cut thru to Lake Placid from there. Which I did -- following your route exactly. I remember the mtns I climbed along the the route. I also vividly remember the last day, too -- I was intending to walk the road to Lake Placid to get my return bus, but after I was walking on the road for like 2 minutes, even tho I wasn't hitch hiking, someone stopped and asked if I needed a ride -- which I took!! It was all a perfect trip (except for lots of rain, tho I was too young to care too much about that!) Thanks for taking me back to my roots!!

Sleeping in a Hammock is the best thing ever! You just need to have the right gear. I’m using DD Hammock’s Frontline, also using their 3x3m Tarp, underblanket when the weather is getting colder, their Treehugger with the bigger carabiners and their sleeve which is suuuuper useful. Just make sure you have enough Paracord and you’re all set!
