This footage is incredible. Thank you for taking the time to film, edit, and share with everyone. I’m looking to do a goat rocks hike this coming season which lead me to your video. I’m curious, did you park in the walupt camp ground for this hike? It appears you started and finished at that camp. Thank you, and can’t wait for more footage.

Thanks Matt. I parked right at the trailhead (very close to that Walupt Trail sign you see at the beginning of the video). Have a great time! I'm sure you will enjoy it.

Loved it, but 2 points i wish were here, the views from the top of Old Snowy if you made it there, and the mention of the starting point, or and an overall topo map of your track. Ive hiked this area 10 times, and i know there are more routes yet to explore. Your video gives me an idea of more. Thanks for the awesome edits, and music.

Thanks for the feedback. The starting/ending point was Walupt Lake. I'm going to update the map link since its pointing to Kraig Adam's map and not mine. Thanks

Thanks Outdoor Gypsy, you obviously know the beauty of this place. It's one of my favorite areas of the PNW.

What time of year was this? Do you have a recommendation for a 3 day hike that has beautiful views but not currently snowed over? Looking to fill my Memorial Day weekend with a trip.
@cascadiahiking Жыл бұрын
Hi Matt, it was either the last week of July or first week of August. For that time of year, I'd consider the Lakeshore trail along Lake Chelan. It wouldn't take 3 days, more like 2 but it will be free of snow and you get the bonus of exploring the area around Stehekin. It's a classic early season backpacking trip. I have a video of the trip if you want more info.

I just did this trail in July and made a video! Please take a look! I took the Nannie Ridge trail back to lake Walupt. I never camped before so I did a smaller loop in one day. I hope to learn that skill to do these long hikes! Looks like I missed some great views. Congratulations!

July and August are best IMHO. Wildflowers are very good then on this trail and snow should be mostly be melted out.

Going to loosely follow your route soon. Anything come up you would advise to do differently?
@cascadiahiking Жыл бұрын
From Walupt, I would go up the nannie ridge trail to Sheep Lake and the PCT. This gets you up to the good stuff faster and bypasses the longer route along the lake and up to the PCT. I've done both and would always pick going up nannie ridge. Last thing, be sure to cache the route to your phone, The last day has you on some unmaintained trails to get back to walupt lake. Handy just to be sure you are on the route. Have fun and let me know how it turns out. Goat Rocks is spectacular.

Is that a Hyperlite Pack? If so, how do you like it?
@cascadiahiking2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jay, yes it is. I do like the pack. It's my go-to multi-day pack. I go into the details of why I like it and my other gear here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pJ7Cf353ZtycbNU
