What captured my attention mostly on this video is your quote between 20:50 and 21:40. It reminded me of John Muir, my favorite Conservationist. This is a big reason why I appreciate your videos. Keep Hiking!

What a beautiful hike! 🌲 The views from Glacier Point must have been incredible, and camping by Illilouette Creek sounds like the perfect way to end the day. 11 miles solo in Yosemite is definitely an adventure to remember. Thanks for sharing this peaceful experience - it really makes me want to get out there and explore Yosemite myself! Cheers, Simon - Tales From Abroad

i have done the panorama trail from glacier to nevada then down the mist or jmt many times and i know the illhouette bridge but i never saw or paid attention to to any trails around the bridge. Once ur going up the mountain like ur going to nevada i do remember a sign about duck lake.... interesting i need to pay more attention still don't know where u r though lol ...the camping spot looks amazing; nice calm and peaceful..the first camp site i think was better but i like the one u stayed at simply because the water was a little louder...in addition, if u start mono meadow trail up at a mile or so before glacier point and go down the trail, i saw 2 bears the very first time i ever was in yosemite and on the trail, first one was grazing in a meadow a mile or so down the trail and the other one was crossing the trail ahead of me the next morning..if u were warm maybe taking the beanie off and not completely in ur sleepoing bag with socks on might have helped u not be so warm????lastly love the hanging little storage tent (link or name please) ...all the best my dude

How do you deal with bears encounter especially if you are staying overnight? Do you carry any weapons to protect yourself from any wildlife animal?
@Sheety335 ай бұрын
Always respect wild animals and give them space, in addition to storing my food & scented items inside of a bear proof canister. This seems to work out well for me.

Hi, I've backpacked and slept in bear country in California more than 120 nights. It is actually kinda rare to see a bear and people feel lucky if they do. I've been on 9 day trips on the JMT and not seen any bears or bear poop. I'd guess that I've seen about 12 bears. It is VERY likely that I have walked right past more bears but I was concentrating on not tripping over a rock or root and did see it. I almost walked past a bear, who was just eating in the bushes and only saw it when my friend started talking to it. A very large bear walked past our campsite in Yosemite one time and I didn't see it as my sister and I were busy washing dishes and talking. Bears generally walk on silent kitty cat paws. Most of bears that I have seen were just living their bear life and ignored me as I walked by on the trail. Only two have approached me on two separate trips. Both times they approached when I was eating. I just gathered up my food and picked up my backpack and yelled at them and threw rocks (with terrible aim lol!). Both bears immediately left and went on their way when they realized that I was going to defend my food and backpack. I've always used a bear canister and it has always been exactly where I left it in the morning. My sister did accidently take some nuts into her tent in a hipbelt pocked one night. A mother bear and two cubs did come close enough that my sister could smell them. 😯 She said that they smelled terrible, but left when she yelled at them. She WAS tormented by a mouse ALL NIGHT. We have also had a mouse get into a bear locker in Kings Canyon and eat/wreak some tortillas. The "mini bears" are the worst and can really torment you and do damage to your food! I did have a mountain lion drag a deer right past my tent one time when I was backpacking. I didn't hear it, but woke up to drag marks and a trail of blood. It was kind of a crazy thing to wake up to! lol! A ranger told me what had most likely happened when I described it. But the "dangerous" wildlife is mostly just living their lives and are fine to let us visit their turf and don't have much interest in us. NOTE: Bear spray is considered a "weapon" in California. Bear spray, mace and actual weapons (guns, etc) are illegal to carry in Yosemite, Sequoia Nat'l Park, Kings Canyon and along the John Muir Trail. It really isn't necessary for California black bears. They are almost never aggressive towards humans who are just hiking or backpacking. An ultra runner was running at night in Yosemite Valley and "collided with a bear" this summer. He got some bloody scratches. Maybe don't go running alone at night, and you should be fine! PS I have never been to grizzly bear country. I understand that bear spray is sold in the Yellowstone gift shops. But that is not the case in California and it is illegal here. Hope this helps!
