A little info about this trail:
We tried to take the Indian Hollow-Pine Tree Loop Trail as outlined on AllTrails www.alltrails.com/trail/us/ne...
However, when we reached the top of the saddle and the point where Pine Tree Trail supposedly joined the Indian Hollow Trail, we could not find the turnoff. The Pine Tree Loop Trail is a trail continues up the mountain, but there was no trail turning off back down the mountain on the east side of the saddle. We could see a section of trail down slope, but there was no clear path to get to it, it would have required just blazing a trail down a steep decline. We saw the bare remnants of what looked like a disused animal trail that may have been this connector, but it was completely overgrown. Evidently, no one has hiked through this portion of the "loop" in years. Read the reviews on AllTrails and you see a common theme. We also went to the purported trail head of the Indian Hollow Trail and discovered that it was unmarked and located in the group campsite. It also does not appear on any of the Aguirre Springs Recreation Area maps. In summary, the Aguirre Springs Recreation Area does not regard the Indian Hollow Trail as an active trail and they are not encouraging day hikers to trudge through the middle of the new group camping site. Just hike the Pine Tree Loop Trail which is a little longer but covers most of the same ground. It's a beautiful trail!
Cheers,
Glenna
