Hiking Mount Baldy (Six-Pack of Peaks Challenge)

Mount San Antonio and Mount Baldy Notch Trail. Notch, Devils backbone, Baldy Summit, and then Ski Hut route. This is our first hike for the Six-Pack of Peaks Challenge.

I’ve ridden the chair lift a few times - used it for an easier hike than what this video covers - from notch to Baldy to notch; have taken my son to snowtube park a few times in recent years too - it “looks” sketchy but always gets us up and down safely - it’s great for those of us than don’t want an 14 mile hike 👍🏽👍🏽

Do those sticks really do anything for you, what’s the purpose? I was considering getting a pair

They help a lot on bigger elevation hikes. It helps on incline to really dig in and lift your body weight, you are now using four extremities instead of just two. This will allow you to climb longer. Decline it helps distribute your weight and saves some impact on your knees. Really is helpful in both instances. There are other times you can use them to help with balance as well. I would recommend watching a video on the proper way to hold and angle them depending on the terrain you are on.

Most of the last part of your route was just fire roads? Really? The entire route down from the summit along the ski hut trail is single track 🤦🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️😂
