I just ran the northern circuit a few days before lockdown. It was cool seeing this on camera. The best and most surreal nature experience I've had. Well done for getting it done!

And you did the Great Wall and Huan Shah (?)hikes? Was this worse?

The Great Wall was most challenging but only because we took the cable car at Huashan. The day hike in New Zealand was exhausting but less dangerous I think.

Ooo, did you have a permit to fly the drone? You must have a permit to fly a drone on Department of Conservation land. Tongariro National park is very sacred and they hardly ever issue permits for people to fly their drone there.

This video is extremely old (posted long after it was actually shot) which was before many of the regulations had settled into place. It is indeed extremely rare/difficult to get permission to fly here and I wouldn’t recommend it.
