Wow. I am, of course, familiar with the song, but I never knew that backstory. It gives it a whole lot more depth and meaning, and makes me want to revisit this area and enjoy it all the more. Brilliant Chloe - the spring worked its magic on you. Forget the carrot of the cheese straw (whatever that is) the sun, flowers, forest and predators up above was food enough for the day. I was trying to get the name of the forest. I think it's Hurtwood. Any way, just checked it out. Wow, it's fairly extensive West to East. You could feel remoteness and wildness there for sure. Any way, admire your knowledge. Take care. Mark

Thank you, Mark! Yes, it is Hurtwood, you are correct! I think it extends into a lot of different named areas because as you said, it is a very extensive area, but around Hurtwood and Peaslake was where I explored. The main trails were quite busy and are popular with mountain bikers, but once you get away from those it feels as though you could wander for quite some time and feel alone in the world, which is always a peaceful feeling.
