Lassen is a mini Yellowstone. What you saw was not really a geyser. Lol. It’s a fumerole. But it’s cool to see some of the volcanic activity of Lassen. You will have to come back to Lassen, but the side that is not the pct. It’s incredibly beautiful snd even more Yellowstone like place. Waterfalls snd alpine lakes snd snow capped peak that you can drive right up to. I love the meadows thru the pct section though. Glad you did subway cave. It’s not as epic as lava beds national monument that is not far from Lassen. They have a cave that has ice at the bottom all year long. That section from Lassen to burney is pretty hot and dry. Remember that the forest in Lassen is very young. That mountain erupted 100 years ago. And unlike Mt St. Helens it didn’t grow back as fast as far as foliage. Congrats on getting thru that hot, dry, burned section. Thanks for posting

At the trailhead! There was legitimate no one else in that section that day. It was kind of haunting lol

Did you guys turn off your head lamps while in the middle of the cave? I think it's pretty cool to experience complete darkness like that; it kind of freaks some people out though. One thing is for sure, complete darkness like that in a cave or lava tube is very different from what most people call darkness.
